For general use and portability, the Acer Aspire 5 17 is less expensive, has a larger screen, and is suitable for everyday tasks. However, its larger size and weight may make it less convenient to carry around compared to the more compact and lighter MSI Prestige 15, which offers better performance for 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering thanks to its higher RAM and dedicated graphics card. The MSI also boasts superior color accuracy and a backlit keyboard with a number pad. If battery life is a priority, the MSI Prestige 15 has higher battery capacity. Both come with a similar range of ports and neither is ideal for intensive gaming. Give Feedback

The MSI Prestige 15 is good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 5 17 is only fair.
The MSI Prestige 15 has a stronger processor and dedicated graphics card, making it well-suited for demanding engineering and design tasks, in addition to having double the RAM for better multitasking, which are very important factors. In contrast, the Acer Aspire 5 17, while offering a larger screen which benefits design work, uses integrated graphics and a lower-tier processor, impacting its performance for complex tasks; it is also heavier and thus less portable compared to the lighter MSI Prestige 15.

The MSI Prestige 15 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 5, with its fair screen, provides adequate resolution and brightness for everyday tasks, but lacks the vibrant color range needed for detailed engineering work and the high refresh rate crucial for smooth gaming and 3D applications. The MSI Prestige 15 offers a higher quality display that renders sharp, bright images and covers a broader color spectrum, making it more suitable for professional engineering and design work, yet it still falls short for gaming due to an insufficient refresh rate. For users prioritizing screen quality for productivity over entertainment, the MSI Prestige 15 outshines the Acer Aspire 5, but gamers seeking fluid motion should consider other models.

How the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the MSI Prestige 15 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"The MSI Prestige 15 offers a dazzling 4K image quality, and solid performance. The MSI Prestige 15 appears to consistently implement the guiding principle of throttling the solid and efficient hardware to such an extent that content creation succeeds perfectly. Performance-hungry tasks, on the other hand, are slowed down a little by the reduced power consumption. Conversely, this means that the case remains relatively cool and the dual fan subdued. The battery life also benefits somewhat. So the losses aren't really dramatic because full performance is still available for short bursts."
