The Acer Aspire 5 17 is somewhat less expensive, offers more storage but less RAM, and a larger screen which is beneficial for visibility but less conducive to mobility. In contrast, the LG Gram 16, which is somewhat more expensive, provides less storage but double the RAM for better multitasking, plus a higher resolution for sharper image clarity, and it is significantly lighter, enhancing portability. The LG Gram also has a longer battery life, making it more suitable for extended use away from power outlets. Consider the LG Gram for a mix of performance and mobility, or the Acer if you prioritize a larger display and storage on a budget. Give Feedback

The LG Gram 16 is good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 5 17 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 offers a fair performance for engineering and design due to its more modest main processor and lesser RAM compared to the LG Gram 16, which provides good performance with a superior processor and double the RAM for handling demanding tasks more effectively. While both are equipped with similar GPUs and high-quality IPS screens, the LG Gram 16's higher screen resolution and color accuracy make it better suited for precise visual work, and its lighter build and longer battery life also enhance its portability for on-the-go use.

The LG Gram 16 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the LG Gram 16's superior resolution and brightness offer clearer and more vibrant visuals, making it an attractive option compared to the Acer Aspire 5 17, whose adequate display suffices but doesn't stand out. In engineering and design, the LG Gram 16's wider color gamuts ensure more accurate color representation, vital for detailed work, while the Acer Aspire 5 17's fair performance may not satisfy professionals needing precision. Due to the importance of refresh rates for 3D and gaming, both models fall short for these tasks, with the LG Gram 16's better resolution and panel type offering marginal benefits that don't greatly enhance high-speed graphics.

How the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the LG Gram 16 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"The LG Gram 16 is a lightweight device with stability issues. The LG Gram 16Z90Q with a Core i7-1260P is made with portability in mind and places less of a focus on users with high demands on performance. The compact and light chassis is particularly practical when you are on the go. The device is not only comfortably small and lightweight, it also boasts a great battery life. When connected to mains, on the other hand, the 16-inch device is rather disappointing. The standard cooling mode causes extreme volatility in terms of CPU, SSD and iGPU performance. The meager stability of the chassis may also put off some potential buyers."
