When choosing between the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15", consider their differences. The Acer offers a larger screen, which is better for multitasking and productivity, but it's also heavier and less portable than the Lenovo. On the other hand, the Lenovo has a touch screen and a significantly longer battery life, which is ideal for on-the-go use and flexibility. For high-performance needs like 3D work or engineering, neither laptop is specialized, but they can manage general use and some level of demanding tasks. If budget is a concern, the Lenovo is typically less expensive and could be a more economical choice while offering similar storage and RAM. Give Feedback

The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 17 for general use, and engineering and design.
When considering general use, both the Acer Aspire 5 17 and Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" have fair screen quality due to adequate resolution and brightness for common tasks like browsing and video streaming, but lack the high-end panel types that provide superior viewing angles and color reproduction. For engineering and design, their fair categorization arises because they offer sufficient screen real estate and clarity but may fall short in delivering the wide color gamuts required for precise color work. In the context of 3D and gaming, the average refresh rates of these laptops limit their ability to deliver the smooth visuals that fast-paced content demands, even with resolutions that are moderate enough for these activities.

The Acer Aspire 5 17 and Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" are both fair for gaming and 3D because they have graphics units that can handle moderate workloads but may struggle with more advanced games and rendering tasks; both have a screen refresh rate of 60Hz, which is adequate for casual gaming but not ideal for fast-paced, competitive gaming where higher refresh rates are beneficial. Additionally, while their processors are decent, screens are of good quality, neither excels in the high-end performance often desired for gaming and demanding 3D applications.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" and Acer Aspire 5 17 are both only fair for engineering and design.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 offers an Intel i5 CPU and integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics, which may not handle demanding engineering applications as smoothly as some might prefer, and the screen favors a larger size over higher quality metrics, which could impact design work. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" has an AMD Ryzen 7 CPU with Vega 8 graphics, yielding better raw performance for engineering tasks, and boasts a higher-quality display, but it trades off a bit of screen real estate and has a slightly smaller battery capacity compared to the Acer.

How the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 is convincing due to its long battery life. The device scores points especially with its large battery and long battery runtimes combined with its low consumption. The CPU and GPU perform in the test as one would expect, and in line with what was familiar from the somewhat smaller 14-inch sister model, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 14."
