The Acer Aspire 5 has slightly better performance which may be noticeable during intensive tasks and it is suited for general use, 3D/machine learning tasks, and engineering applications. However, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 offers better battery life and is somewhat more affordable. Both laptops are fairly similar in terms of portability, screen size, and resolution, but the Acer's display is a bit brighter while the Lenovo covers a wider range of colors. If costs are a concern and longer battery life is important, the Lenovo might suit you. If you're seeking better performance for demanding tasks, consider the Acer. Choose based on what matters more: battery life and savings, or performance for more demanding activities. Give Feedback

How the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" defies expectations. Indeed, it is just a minor upgrade over last year. However, this doesn’t make the laptop any less terrific. It’s got a great performance, courtesy of the Ryzen 5x25U processors. In addition, you get a pretty good battery life. Perhaps, the 2-hour decrease in video playback, compared to last year is not great, but still, 10 hours of Web browsing and 7 hours of video playback is okay for 17-inch notebooks."
