The Acer Aspire 5 17, while often less expensive, is better suited for general use with decent performance from its Intel i5 processor and integrated graphics, making it a sound choice for everyday tasks and moderate multitasking. It also offers a large 17.3-inch display, which is great for productivity and entertainment, but it isn't as portable due to its size and weight. On the other hand, the HP Omen 16 comes with a higher price but brings much greater power with an Intel i7 processor and Nvidia RTX graphics, suitable for demanding applications like 3D rendering, machine learning, and gaming. It also boasts a higher refresh rate screen, providing smoother visuals, important for gaming, and has better overall performance. However, it's heavier and might have shorter battery life due to more power-hungry components. If you're focused on performance for specialized tasks and are okay with a higher price and less portability, the HP Omen 16 is the better choice. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Marcus Schwarten | March 2021
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."

NotebookCheck

Christian Hintze | October 2021
"The Omen 16 has proven to be a fairly good mid-range gaming laptop with all-around improvements compared to the Omen 15. The high overall performance level across all use cases, the long battery life, and the good FHD display constitute the main advantages of this HP laptop. The main drawbacks are the faulty touchpad (one-off?) and the high latencies that can be observed even after just opening the browser. Furthermore, the useless, preinstalled 30-day trial versions of various software also fall under the category "unnecessary"."
