The Acer Aspire 5 17 offers a large 17.3-inch screen, good for office work and entertainment, but may be less convenient to carry. If portability is a concern, the Gigabyte A5 with a smaller 15.6-inch screen could be better. It also has a higher refresh rate which is beneficial for smooth graphics in gaming. The Gigabyte A5 is equipped with a powerful Nvidia graphics card that supports gaming and more demanding tasks like 3D and machine learning, whereas the Acer Aspire 5 has a less powerful integrated graphics solution making it suitable for general use. The Acer Aspire may cost slightly less, but the Gigabyte provides better performance for engineering and graphics-related use, albeit with potentially less battery life. If your work involves intensive tasks or gaming, the Gigabyte A5 is more suitable, whereas for casual use and media consumption, the Acer Aspire 5 17 could suffice. Give Feedback

The Acer Aspire 5 17 has a better screen than the Gigabyte A5 for software development, while the Gigabyte A5 has a better screen for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, the better resolution and brightness of the Gigabyte A5 enhance the viewing experience with crisper text and more vivid images compared to the Acer Aspire 5 17, despite both having similar panel types. The Gigabyte also leads in engineering and design due to its wider color gamut coverage, ensuring more accurate color representation which is critical for professionals in these fields. However, for gaming and 3D applications, both laptops fall short as they lack high refresh rates, which are crucial for smooth motion and quick response times, despite the Gigabyte's advantage in other screen attributes.

How the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the Gigabyte A5 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"Ignoring price, the Gigabyte A5 has a hard time against the similarly fast competition. Besides the loud noise in 3D mode (performance mode), the high temperature development of the components should be mentioned on the downside. Despite the relatively thick case, the laptop gets very warm and loud under load, which does not exactly speak for the cooling system. The plastic surfaces look rather cheap and also tend to rattle. In most other disciplines - be it the input devices, the screen, the connectivity or the battery runtime - the Gigabyte laptop does not stand out from the crowd, neither positively nor negatively. However, those who primarily pay attention to the price-performance ratio will get a pretty good offer with the Gigabyte A5."
