If you require more storage and better performance for tasks like photo editing or casual gaming, the Acer Aspire 5 with its Intel i5 processor and ample storage would be a suitable option, although it is less portable and more expensive. On the other hand, the ASUS Vivobook Go is more budget-friendly and lighter, making it highly portable, but offers less storage and is equipped with a less powerful Intel Celeron processor, which is fine for everyday tasks like web browsing and document editing but less suitable for intensive applications. Neither laptop is ideal for intensive gaming or high-demand engineering software. Give Feedback

The Acer Aspire 5 17 is good for general use, while the ASUS Vivobook Go 15 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 offers better performance for general use with a more powerful Intel i5 CPU and double the RAM compared to the ASUS Vivobook Go 15's Intel Celeron CPU and lower RAM, leading to smoother multitasking and faster operation. Additionally, the Acer's larger screen with higher quality IPS display provides more vivid colors and better viewing angles, while the ASUS's smaller storage and less robust TN panel contribute to its poorer assessment for general use despite being more portable with its lighter weight and smaller size.

The Acer Aspire 5 17 is only fair for gaming and AI, while the ASUS Vivobook Go 15 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 is better suited for gaming and 3D applications because it has a more capable GPU in the form of the Intel Iris Xe, whereas the ASUS Vivobook Go 15 falls short for these tasks with its less powerful Intel UHD Graphics 600. Both laptops have the same screen refresh rate, but the Aspire's better GPU and its higher-quality IPS screen compared to the Vivobook's TN panel make the Aspire a fair choice for gaming, while the Vivobook is considered poor.

The Acer Aspire 5 17 is only fair for engineering and design, while the ASUS Vivobook Go 15 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 is better suited for engineering and design tasks due to its superior Intel i5 processor, ample RAM, and integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics, while also showcasing a quality IPS display for clearer images. In contrast, the ASUS Vivobook Go 15 has a weaker Intel Celeron processor, less RAM, basic Intel UHD Graphics, and uses a lower-quality TN panel which makes it less capable for demanding applications and visualization of detailed designs.

The Acer Aspire 5 17 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook Go 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 offers a balance for general use with adequate resolution and brightness, making text and images sufficiently clear, but it lacks the wide color gamut and high refresh rates desired for engineering and gaming respectively. In contrast, the ASUS Vivobook Go 15's screen falls short in brightness and resolution, leading to a less vibrant and crisp display for any use, and the absence of a wide color range and high refresh rate makes it even less suitable for design work and gaming. Both laptops don't meet the high standards required for specialized tasks like engineering designs and 3D gaming, where precise colors and fluid motion are critical.

How the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the ASUS Vivobook Go 15 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"The Asus Vivobook Go 15 is a good option if you’re looking for one device to tackle a bunch of smaller problems. For simple school studies, portable evening entertainment or distractions, and getting household admin or light office workloads out of the way, it’s a great little package with respectable battery life, and a great contender for the advent of cloud gaming."
