The Acer Aspire 5 17 is more expensive but offers better performance with a larger screen, more storage, and a stronger processor, making it a good fit for tasks like engineering or intensive multitasking. With its bigger screen and higher resolution, it's also suitable for entertainment or design work. However, this laptop is heavier and less portable. On the other hand, the ASUS Vivobook Go 12 is much more affordable, significantly lighter, and easier to carry around, but its smaller storage, less powerful processor, and lower-quality display make it best for basic use like web browsing, document editing, or streaming videos. The Acer Aspire 5 17 is good for general use, while the ASUS Vivobook Go 12 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 is good for general use because it has more RAM and a stronger CPU, in addition to a larger, higher quality IPS screen, making it well-suited for multitasking and media consumption. In contrast, the ASUS Vivobook Go 12 is less suitable for general use due to its limited storage, lower RAM, weaker CPU, and a smaller screen with a lower-quality TN panel, which may not provide as sharp or vibrant a display.

The Acer Aspire 5 17 is only fair for gaming and AI, while the ASUS Vivobook Go 12 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 offers better performance for gaming and 3D applications due to its superior integrated GPU, the Intel Iris Xe, which offers more power for graphics processing compared to the ASUS Vivobook Go 12’s Intel UHD Graphics 600. Additionally, the larger screen size of the Acer with a higher resolution contributes to a more immersive gaming experience, whereas the smaller screen and lower resolution on the ASUS may detract from visual quality and gaming engagement.

The Acer Aspire 5 17 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook Go 12 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Acer Aspire 5 17, with its larger screen size coupled with adequate resolution and brightness, offers a satisfactory display for everyday tasks and design work, but it falls short for gaming and 3D due to a standard refresh rate and limited color range. In contrast, the ASUS Vivobook Go 12's smaller screen and lower resolution result in less-than-ideal screen quality for all users, making detailed work or entertainment less immersive. Furthermore, both laptops lack the high color accuracy needed for professional engineering and design applications, as well as the high refresh rates coveted by gamers for smooth visuals.

"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
