The Acer Aspire 5 15 has a better screen than the MSI Katana 15 for software development, while the MSI Katana 15 has a better screen for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, both the Acer Aspire 5 and MSI Katana have adequate resolution and brightness, offering a comfortable viewing experience for browsing, streaming, and productivity tasks, but the panel type may lack the color accuracy and viewing angles of higher-end displays. In engineering and design, where precision in color representation is critical, the fair screen quality indicates that while they can handle some tasks, they may not fully cover the color gamuts like DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB, leading to less accurate color reproduction. For Gaming and 3D, their poor screen quality suggests that the refresh rate on these models may not be high enough to satisfy the needs of high-frame-rate gaming, while the panel type and resolution could impact visual clarity and immersion.

How the Acer Aspire 5 15 and the MSI Katana 15 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 15 is a good value office laptop with reasonable battery life. The combination of slim exterior, relatively low weight (approx. 1.7 kg) and 8 hour real-life battery runtime makes the Acer Aspire a truly mobile laptop. The modest Tiger Lake processor supports this area and simultaneously ensures an affordable price point. The Aspire produces little noise and stays cool. The screen (FHD, IPS) might not win any prizes but is entirely appropriate for the price."
"The MSI Katana 15 B12 combines a Gen12 CPU with an RTX 4050, which is actually not a bad idea for a budget gamer. The CPU is anything but bad and the GPU in the Katana 15 proves to be significantly more efficient than last year's models. However, our main point of criticism for budget gamers is the price: while you can get budget laptops with RTX 3060 from around US$800, you pay a whole US$1,499.99 here! The efficiency advantages of the RTX 4050 do not justify this price premium."
