If you prioritize processing power and multitasking, the Acer Aspire 5 15 with a more powerful processor and double the memory is a better choice, although if portability and battery life are more important for you, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is lighter and has better battery endurance. Both laptops offer good screens for everyday tasks, but the Lenovo does not feature a backlit keyboard, which could be a drawback if you often work in dim environments. Keep in mind, the Acer has a higher price tag but also offers stronger performance for demanding tasks. Give Feedback

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 15 for engineering and design.
The Acer Aspire 5 15 and Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 have screens that offer adequate resolution and brightness for everyday tasks but may not have the premium panel types that provide exceptional color and contrast, making them just serviceable for general use. For engineering and design, these laptops lack the wider color gamuts necessary for precise color work, thereby limiting their effectiveness for professionals in these fields. When it comes to gaming and 3D applications, their screens fall short in refresh rate, impacting the smoothness and responsiveness critical for these high-intensity visual activities.

How the Acer Aspire 5 15 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 15 is a good value office laptop with reasonable battery life. The combination of slim exterior, relatively low weight (approx. 1.7 kg) and 8 hour real-life battery runtime makes the Acer Aspire a truly mobile laptop. The modest Tiger Lake processor supports this area and simultaneously ensures an affordable price point. The Aspire produces little noise and stays cool. The screen (FHD, IPS) might not win any prizes but is entirely appropriate for the price."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | May 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3i is decent for use as a workstation. Its Intel CPU and integrated graphics can only handle light productivity tasks, not demanding workloads like video editing or 3D graphics. You also can't do any color-critical work because the available displays have a narrow color gamut. It has a good port selection, but its USB-C lacks Thunderbolt 4 support. On the upside, it has a comfortable keyboard and doesn't get hot or loud under load."
