The Acer Aspire 5 15 is significantly less expensive, lighter, and thinner, which enhances portability, and still offers a solid basic performance for everyday tasks and lighter workloads. On the other hand, the HP Omen 16, while more expensive, provides substantially higher performance suitable for gaming, engineering software, and other demanding applications due to a more powerful processor, advanced graphics card, and higher refresh rate display, but at the cost of heavier weight and a bit less battery efficiency. If budget is a constraint or you prioritize mobility and your tasks are relatively light, the Acer is a wise choice; if you need higher performance for intensive tasks and gaming, and are fine with a less portable device, the HP Omen 16 is a better fit. The HP Omen 16 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 5 15's screen offers satisfactory resolution and brightness for everyday tasks and sufficient color accuracy for engineering software, yet its lower refresh rates aren't ideal for the smooth visuals required in gaming or 3D applications. The HP Omen 16's display, with its good resolution and higher brightness, enhances the user experience in daily activities and detailed engineering work, while its better color coverage is advantageous for design projects. Despite these strengths, the HP Omen 16's lower refresh rate might not provide the optimal experience for fast-paced gaming or working with 3D content where higher refresh rates are crucial for fluid motion and responsiveness.

How the Acer Aspire 5 15 and the HP Omen 16 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 15 is a good value office laptop with reasonable battery life. The combination of slim exterior, relatively low weight (approx. 1.7 kg) and 8 hour real-life battery runtime makes the Acer Aspire a truly mobile laptop. The modest Tiger Lake processor supports this area and simultaneously ensures an affordable price point. The Aspire produces little noise and stays cool. The screen (FHD, IPS) might not win any prizes but is entirely appropriate for the price."
"The Omen 16 has proven to be a fairly good mid-range gaming laptop with all-around improvements compared to the Omen 15. The high overall performance level across all use cases, the long battery life, and the good FHD display constitute the main advantages of this HP laptop. The main drawbacks are the faulty touchpad (one-off?) and the high latencies that can be observed even after just opening the browser. Furthermore, the useless, preinstalled 30-day trial versions of various software also fall under the category "unnecessary"."
