The Acer Aspire 5 15 is the more budget-friendly option, suitable for everyday use, light productivity tasks, and those who prioritize value over raw performance. In contrast, the Dell Alienware x14 R1 is significantly more expensive, designed for gaming and high-performance tasks, with a faster processor, a dedicated graphics card, and a higher refresh rate display. The tradeoff is not just in cost but in the intended usage: the Acer is for casual, cost-effective computing, while the Dell caters to demanding workloads and gaming, with a price to match its capabilities. The Acer is also slightly bulkier, which may impact portability, whereas the Dell is crafted for a balance between performance and portability. Keep in mind the Acer Aspire 5 is more recent, which generally means newer design and technology, versus the Dell which launched earlier. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Sascha Mölck | November 2022
"The Acer Aspire 5 15 is a good value office laptop with reasonable battery life. The combination of slim exterior, relatively low weight (approx. 1.7 kg) and 8 hour real-life battery runtime makes the Acer Aspire a truly mobile laptop. The modest Tiger Lake processor supports this area and simultaneously ensures an affordable price point. The Aspire produces little noise and stays cool. The screen (FHD, IPS) might not win any prizes but is entirely appropriate for the price."

NotebookCheck

Andreas Osthoff | March 2022
"The Alienware X14 series is thinner, but also slower than the competition. With the X series, you get plenty of modern technology: Intel Alder Lake CPUs, GeForce RTX 3000 GPUs, Thunderbolt 4, PCIe 4.0, Wi-Fi 6E, G-Sync, and Advanced Optimus. However, the slim design has some drawbacks, just like its larger siblings. The shifted hinge position results in a very deep device with a large footprint compared to the competition."
