If you're on a budget and need a device for everyday tasks, the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 offers a lower price with adequate performance, touchscreen, and decent battery life, but it's not designed for heavy tasks. On the other hand, the MSI Stealth 17 is significantly more expensive but excels in high-end performance, making it suitable for gaming, 3D rendering, or intensive engineering work; it has a larger and more color-accurate screen but is heavier and has shorter battery life. The MSI Stealth 17 is very good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14’s modest CPU and RAM configuration makes it suited for light tasks and its fanless design promotes silent operation, enhancing general use in quiet environments. In contrast, the MSI Stealth 17 is equipped with a high-end CPU and abundant RAM, paired with an excellent display, making it better for performance-intensive applications while also being larger and less portable.

The MSI Stealth 17 is excellent for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is poor.
The MSI Stealth 17, with its powerful Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics card and high 240 Hz screen refresh rate, provides an excellent gaming and 3D experience. In contrast, the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 features an entry-level Intel i3-N305 UHD Graphics Xe and a standard 60 Hz refresh rate, making it just fair for gaming and 3D applications.

The MSI Stealth 17 is excellent for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14, with a basic Intel i3 processor, integrated graphics, and a lower resolution screen, offers modest performance suitable for lighter engineering tasks, whereas the MSI Stealth 17's high-end Intel i9 processor, advanced Nvidia RTX graphics, and higher resolution screen make it well-equipped for demanding engineering and design work. Additionally, the MSI has significantly more RAM for complex multitasking, but it's heavier and less portable compared to the lightweight Acer, which also boasts silent operation.

The MSI Stealth 17 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14's screen offers adequate resolution and brightness, satisfying basic needs for everyday tasks but may lack the high color accuracy and wider color gamuts needed for precise engineering and design work. Its lower refresh rate leads to less desirable visuals in fast-paced gaming and 3D applications where smooth motion is crucial.
The MSI Stealth 17 provides sharp, bright visuals suitable for a variety of tasks, including those requiring accurate color representation for engineering and design. However, despite its quality in color and resolution, the refresh rate isn't high enough to deliver the optimal experience for gaming or handling 3D content where rapid on-screen changes are common.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | November 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
"The MSI Stealth 17 Studio is a laptop with a quiet RTX 4080 for almost every occasion. The MSI Stealth 17 Studio is equally capable of high-level media processing and playing current games. It remains pleasantly quiet, even if a few percentage points of power have had to be sacrificed in the process. But, it is not quite perfect: To some extent, the Stealth 17 is well thought out. It packs tons of graphics power and high-end components in a slim case. The laptop's cooling system can be set such that, noise-wise, it doesn't even reach low volume. However, small flaws cloud otherwise exceptionally positive impressions."
