The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is tailored more towards general use with its touchscreen feature and convertibility, making it suitable for tasks like note-taking and content consumption; however, its performance is more modest compared to the MSI Modern 14, which offers better processing power suitable for more demanding tasks like 3D rendering and machine learning, thanks to its AMD Ryzen 5 processor. If portability is a major concern, the MSI Modern 14 is lighter. Both have similar screen sizes and resolutions, but only the Acer has a touchscreen. If budget is a main factor, you'll have to balance between the Acer's versatility and the MSI's higher performance. Give Feedback

The MSI Modern 14 is good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is only fair.
The MSI Modern 14 outperforms the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 as it offers a stronger CPU and double the RAM, which greatly influences performance for general use, and has a superior screen in terms of brightness and contrast. While the Acer Aspire has a higher resolution touchscreen and slightly better battery life, the MSI has better portability due to its lighter weight and offers more storage, a backlit keyboard, and manages heat effectively, which are important aspects of everyday computing.

The MSI Modern 14 is only fair for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14, with its Intel i3 processor and Intel UHD Graphics Xe, is fair for engineering and design use because it can handle moderate workloads but may struggle with more demanding software typically used in these fields. On the other hand, the MSI Modern 14, equipped with a more powerful AMD Ryzen 5 processor and Vega 7 graphics, offers better performance for such tasks, although the higher screen quality of the Acer may benefit design work where visual detail is important. Both laptops have good portability and adequate keyboards, but differences in RAM and CPU have notable impacts on their engineering and design capabilities.

The MSI Modern 14 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 for general use, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, both the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 and the MSI Modern 14 have adequate resolution and brightness, but they don't feature top-tier panels which would provide better color and viewing angles. When used for engineering and design work, neither display covers a wide color gamut, which is crucial for accuracy in color-intensive tasks. In terms of gaming and 3D applications, both lack high refresh rates that are essential for smooth visuals, which might hinder the gaming experience or detailed motion in 3D modeling and rendering.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers MSI Modern 14 to be only fair for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 and MSI Modern 14 are both rated as fair for gaming and 3D because they are equipped with integrated graphics - the Acer with Intel UHD Graphics Xe and the MSI with AMD Vega 7, which offer moderate performance but may struggle with high-end gaming or 3D work. Both models also have a 60Hz screen refresh rate which is standard for regular use but not ideal for high frame rate gaming, and while they have good CPUs and screen quality, these attributes aren't as influential as the GPU and refresh rate for gaming performance.

How the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 and the MSI Modern 14 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | November 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | October 2023
"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
