The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is significantly less expensive than the Gigabyte Aero 5, offering adequate performance for general use and features touchscreen capability in a highly portable package with fanless operation, making it a good fit if budget and quiet use are important. On the other hand, the Gigabyte Aero 5 has more storage, better performance for 3D/machine learning, and gaming, as well as a higher quality display, but this comes at a higher price, bigger size, heavier weight, and reduced portability. If premium performance and display quality are critical and budget is less of a concern, the Aero 5 may be the better choice. Give Feedback

The Gigabyte Aero 5 is very good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is poor.
The Gigabyte Aero 5 outshines the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 for engineering and design use primarily due to its substantially more powerful CPU, double the amount of RAM, a superior dedicated GPU, and a higher quality OLED screen, which are very important for such tasks. Although the Aspire is lighter and thus more portable with fanless operation for quieter use, these advantages do not outweigh the Aero's performance features necessary for demanding engineering software and detailed design work.

The Gigabyte Aero 5 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 provides an adequate display for daily tasks and casual design work, thanks to its resolution and brightness, but it may not offer the wide color gamut necessary for precise engineering and design needs. On the other hand, the Gigabyte Aero 5 shines with a high-resolution, bright screen and extensive color coverage, making it ideal for engineering and professional design applications where color accuracy is vital. However, both laptops fall short for 3D applications and gaming, as they lack the high refresh rates required for smooth visuals in fast-paced environments, even though their screen types and resolutions are satisfactory.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | November 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
"It is unfortunate that the Gigabyte AERO notebook series have seem to lost its charm, as it’s not exactly any much different from the AORUS series now. Regardless, content creators and designers will certainly still appreciate the features on the AERO 5 XE4, which are fundamental to their work. This largely revolved around the notebook’s display, which is colour calibrated and validated, high resolution (4K) and with great AMOLED colour representation. Now that the AERO 5 XE4 has improved its performance with the latest CPU and GPU, the professionals can also appreciate the improved productivity from the notebook."
