Choose the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 if you're seeking a budget-friendly option that's lighter and offers a 2-in-1 form factor with a touchscreen, but note its performance is more suited to basic tasks. The Gigabyte A7, while typically more expensive, provides significantly better performance for gaming, 3D rendering, or engineering tasks with a larger screen and dedicated graphics but is heavier and has shorter battery life; thus, less portable. The Gigabyte A7 is good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14, with its lower-tier CPU and graphics, less RAM, and smaller storage, is less capable for demanding tasks compared to the Gigabyte A7, which offers a powerful CPU, high-end GPU, more RAM, and ample storage. While the Aspire 3 Spin is lighter, has longer battery life, and fanless operation for quiet use, making it more portable, the A7's larger screen, better screen quality, and stronger build suggest a tradeoff towards performance over portability.

The Gigabyte A7 is good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is poor.
The Gigabyte A7, equipped with a higher-tier AMD Ryzen 7 processor, more RAM, and a dedicated Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU, offers stronger performance, crucial for engineering and design software. Conversely, the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 has less powerful Intel i3 integrated graphics and less RAM, which aligns with its adequate screen quality for design but might struggle with more demanding engineering tasks.

The Gigabyte A7 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14's screen may be adequate due to its resolution and panel type that offer decent clarity and color reproduction, but its lower brightness can make it less suitable for use in bright environments compared to the Gigabyte A7 that has a higher brightness, enhancing visibility. In the context of engineering and design, the Gigabyte A7's better representation of color gamuts such as DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB allows for more accurate color work, which is less vivid on the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14. When it comes to 3D applications, both laptops fall short with lower refresh rates which can limit the smoothness of fast-moving visuals, although their resolutions and panel types are acceptable for moderate 3D tasks.

How the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 and the Gigabyte A7 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | November 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
"In terms of looks, the Gigabyte A7 X1 is certainly not a trendy, slim, and ultra-mobile gaming laptop. But it does what it's supposed to do, namely bringing games smoothly onto the screen, very well. Both the processor and the GeForce RTX 3070 are able to unleash their performance without restrictions thanks to the well-ventilated case. The Gigabyte A7 X1 brings modern games smoothly onto the screen and offers excellent maintenance options."
