The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is more affordable and offers a smaller, more portable form-factor with a 14-inch touchscreen, pen support, and a convertible design ideal for general use and mobility. It has a fanless operation, which means it's silent but might not handle heat as well during intensive tasks. On the other hand, the Gateway 15.6" costs a bit more, comes with better performance due to a more powerful processor and double the memory and storage. It's more suitable for engineering tasks and has a dedicated number pad, but it's larger and heavier, which makes it less portable. The Gateway also has a longer battery life, making it more suitable for extended use without charging. Give Feedback

The Gateway 15.6" is good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is only fair.
The Gateway 15.6" is preferable for general use due to its higher RAM and more powerful i5 processor, enabling smoother operation for various tasks, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14's lower RAM and i3 processor are adequate but less optimal for multitasking or demanding applications. However, the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 offers a higher screen resolution and better portability with a lighter build and fanless design, which may appeal to those prioritizing mobility and silent operation over performance.

The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 has a better screen than the Gateway 15.6" for software development.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 and Gateway 15.6" laptops have screens that offer sufficient resolution and brightness for everyday tasks like browsing and document editing, making them suitable for general use. However, professionals in engineering and design might find the color accuracy and range lacking due to limited DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB coverage, which are crucial for precision work. For gaming and 3D applications, the slower refresh rates of these screens mean less fluid motion and slower response times, which can detract from immersive and competitive gameplay experiences.

How the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 and the Gateway 15.6" compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | November 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
"Some concessions have to be made when shopping for a budget laptop. Walmart's Gateway Ultra Slim laptops succeeds on the affordability front and delivers serviceable specs and good battery life, though it's hard to claim it's the best (or even particularly good) at any particular aspect. Its build quality, especially the touchpad, is mediocre, and its performance is decent but doesn't lead the way. The Gateway does undercut the cost of some competitors and offers ample storage with good connectivity, so it's not to be ignored."
