Based on your needs and preferences, both laptops have their pros and cons. The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is a 2-in-1 convertible that can function as both a laptop and a tablet, offering versatility for those who value flexibility in their device usage. It also operates quietly, which can be beneficial in environments where noise is a concern. On the downside, this model typically has less storage, lower memory, and a less powerful processor compared to the Dell. However, if a fanless design and the capability to use the device as a tablet are important to you, the Acer could be the right choice.
The Dell Latitude 14 7490, which is generally less expensive, offers more storage space, more memory, and a more powerful processor, which will provide better performance for demanding tasks such as engineering software or demanding multitasking. It has a more traditional design and may not be as versatile as the convertible Acer but supports a professional environment with its build and capabilities. If performance and storage are your priority over the flexibility of a 2-in-1 design, the Dell should be your choice. Give Feedback

The Dell Latitude 14 7490 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, screen quality hinges on readability and comfort, so while both the Acer Aspire and Dell Latitude have adequate resolution and panel types, they may fall short on brightness, resulting in just fair quality. Engineering and design demand precision in colors, so the Dell stands out with better coverage of professional color gamuts essential for these tasks, offering good quality as opposed to the Acer's fair quality. However, in gaming and 3D, high refresh rates are crucial for fluidity and neither laptop excels here, and despite acceptable resolutions and panel types, both are considered to have poor screen quality in this area.

How the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 and the Dell Latitude 14 7490 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | November 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
"The Dell Latitude 7490's got the speed you need (and then some), a keyboard that's comfortable enough for writing all day long and a battery that supports a full 8-hour workday. If only the display were brighter and it managed heat better. If you need every minute of battery life you can get, the extended-battery version of the Lenovo ThinkPad T480 lasts 8 hours longer than the Latitude 7490, but its display is much less colorful."
