If you want a laptop that is easier on your wallet and still fulfills everyday tasks with moderate battery life, the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is suitable for basic productivity work and casual use. It's lighter and has a touchscreen with a premium-looking design. However, the Dell Alienware x14 R1, while more expensive, offers significantly better performance for gaming, engineering applications, and intensive tasks. It also has a higher-quality build, better heat management, and a higher refresh rate screen, which is excellent for fast-motion content. The Alienware is slightly heavier, hinting at its focus on performance over ultra-portability. Give Feedback

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | November 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
"The Alienware X14 series is thinner, but also slower than the competition. With the X series, you get plenty of modern technology: Intel Alder Lake CPUs, GeForce RTX 3000 GPUs, Thunderbolt 4, PCIe 4.0, Wi-Fi 6E, G-Sync, and Advanced Optimus. However, the slim design has some drawbacks, just like its larger siblings. The shifted hinge position results in a very deep device with a large footprint compared to the competition."
