If you prioritize performance for tasks like 3D rendering, machine learning, or engineering, consider the ASUS Zenbook Pro 17; it has a more powerful processor, additional memory, and a dedicated graphics card. Despite a higher cost, it also offers a larger storage capacity and better suitability for intensive gaming. However, it is heavier, making it less ideal for frequent travel. On the other hand, the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is more budget-friendly, lighter, and has a longer battery life, suitable for general use and carrying around, but its performance is limited compared to the ASUS, particularly for demanding applications. The ASUS Zenbook Pro 17 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
When considering the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 for general use, the screen's modest resolution and brightness levels are adequate for everyday tasks, but its panel type might not offer the best color reproduction or viewing angles. For engineering and design on the ASUS Zenbook Pro 17, the higher screen resolution and wider color gamuts enhance detail and color accuracy, essential for precision work. However, both laptops have screens with lower refresh rates, which, while sufficient for general use and engineering, are less ideal for 3D applications and gaming that benefit from smoother motion and quicker image updates.

"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
