The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is more affordable, lighter, and comes with a touchscreen and very good heat management, making it suitable for general use such as web browsing or office tasks. On the contrary, the ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED is priced higher but offers a more powerful processor, significantly more storage and memory, an OLED screen with higher brightness and resolution, and better performance across all tasks, including 3D rendering and engineering software. Bear in mind that the Acer is fanless and therefore silent, while the Asus has a better battery life but a higher weight, contributing to slightly less portability. Choose the Acer for casual use and cost savings, or the Asus for demanding applications, better display quality, and overall higher performance at the expense of a higher price and decreased portability. The ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED is good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is only fair.
The ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED outshines the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 with superior CPU and RAM, a high-quality OLED display with better brightness and color accuracy, larger storage, and also boasts good keyboard and speaker quality, although it is less portable due to its slightly heavier weight and larger size. Meanwhile, the Acer provides a fair general-use experience with lower specs in CPU and RAM, a decent IPS screen, and longer battery life, along with silent operation and good portability due to its lighter weight and smaller dimensions.

The ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED is very good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is poor.
The ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED is better suited for engineering and design use due to its more powerful Intel i9 processor, larger RAM capacity, and high-quality OLED screen, which provide superior performance and visual clarity for complex tasks. In comparison, the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 offers a fair experience with its Intel i3 processor, less RAM, and an IPS screen, which still supports engineering use, but may not handle intensive workflows as efficiently.

The ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14's screen provides adequate resolution and brightness for everyday tasks, but its limited color gamut can make it less ideal for professionals who need precise color representation for engineering and design work. The ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED, with its high-resolution OLED display, offers vibrant colors and deep contrasts that are beneficial for detailed engineering and creative tasks, although both laptops aren't tailored for gaming as their screens don't have the high refresh rates required for smooth motion in fast-paced games. General users will appreciate the clarity and viewing experience of the ASUS Vivobook for multimedia and productivity, while those in engineering and design may favor the ASUS for color accuracy despite neither being geared towards gaming enthusiasts.

How the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 and the ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | November 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
"The Asus Vivobook S 15 OLED excels as a capable work machine at an affordable price. It offers commendable performance, thanks to its 12th Gen Intel chip, delivers quality on-screen entertainment with its 15.6-inch OLED display, and can (kind of) get you through a full day of work. Oh, and its special Asus Antibacterial Guard is a nice touch for those who like a clean laptop."
