If you prioritize a larger screen and slightly better performance in general, 3D tasks, and engineering applications at a slightly higher cost, then go for the ASUS Vivobook 15X. However, if you prefer a device with touchscreen capability, better portability due to its more compact size and lower price, then the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 would be a fit, keeping in mind that it has less storage capacity than the Vivobook. Additionally, the color accuracy and contrast are better suited for general use on the Acer, while the ASUS might be slightly better for intensive gaming despite neither being designed specifically for that purpose. The ASUS Vivobook 15X is good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is fair for general use due to its adequate CPU and RAM for basic tasks, decent screen quality, silent operation, and relatively light weight, making it portable with manageable battery life, but it falls short in storage and speaker quality. The ASUS Vivobook 15X also falls into the fair category for general use because it offers similar CPU and RAM capabilities, a satisfactory screen, and reasonable portability, but it has limitations in battery life and lacks in keyboard and speaker quality, with the tradeoff of a larger screen size compared to the Acer.

The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 and the ASUS Vivobook 15X have similar screen quality.
Both the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 and ASUS Vivobook 15X likely have screens with adequate resolution and brightness for everyday tasks like browsing and watching videos, but may not have the color accuracy needed for professional design work. With fair screen quality for engineering and design, the displays probably cover enough color space to be usable for non-critical tasks, but professionals needing precise color replication would find them lacking. For gaming and 3D, the importance of high refresh rates means both models fall short, likely offering a less smooth experience for fast-paced visual content.

How the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 and the ASUS Vivobook 15X compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | November 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
"All in all, my day on the Vivobook had its ups and downs. It is a really pretty and well-built device, and it had all of the functionality I needed to get me through my browser-based workload. But the speakers weren’t my favorite, and the battery life was just too short."
