The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is a budget-friendly option with a smaller screen and lower storage capacity, making it suitable for general use and highly portable due to its lighter weight. Its touchscreen and higher screen resolution suit office tasks and media consumption. Conversely, the ASUS TUF Gaming A17 is more expensive with superior performance, larger storage, and more RAM, tailored for intensive gaming, 3D rendering, and engineering software. It offers a larger screen with a higher refresh rate for smoother visuals. However, it is heavier, less portable, and has a lower battery life, which could affect usage on the go. Give Feedback

The ASUS TUF Gaming A17 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, both the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 and the ASUS TUF Gaming A17 provide acceptable screen characteristics like resolution and brightness, but they may not stand out due to either subdued color reproduction or lower-than-premium brightness levels. When it comes to engineering and design tasks that require accurate color representation, these laptops' displays might fall short in covering the full spectrum of color gamuts like DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB, making them less suitable for professionals who need precise color fidelity. In terms of gaming and 3D applications, the importance of a high refresh rate is critical for smooth visuals, and these laptops' lower refresh rates, despite their sufficient resolution and panel type, make them less ideal for fast-paced gaming or high frame rate 3D rendering.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | November 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
"There is one big question that needs an answer. Is the TUF Gaming A17 FA707 a better purchase than the ROG Strix G17 G713R (2022)? Well, it depends. Undoubtedly, the Strix is the more premium product. Arguably the biggest advantage it has over its TUF fellow is in regards to the display. ASUS TUF Gaming A17 A707’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a very good contrast ratio."
