Choosing between the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 and the Apple MacBook Pro 14 depends on your priorities. The Acer is more budget-friendly and offers a touchscreen with a standard refresh rate display, making it suitable for general use and casual tasks. However, it comes with less storage and a less powerful processor compared to the MacBook Pro.
On the other hand, the MacBook Pro is more expensive but boasts a higher capacity battery providing longer usage time, a more powerful processor for intensive tasks, and a high-quality display that's better for professionals who need accurate colors and sharpness for creative work. It also has a higher build quality and better speaker and webcam performance, but does not have a touchscreen. If your work involves engineering, 3D rendering, or machine learning, the MacBook's better performance suits these needs, whereas for everyday tasks and saving money, the Acer meets the requirements. The Apple MacBook Pro 14 (Late 2023) is very good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14, with an Intel i3 processor and 128GB of storage, is designated as fair for general use partly due to its moderate battery life, portability, and lower resolution IPS screen, which affects screen quality and overall performance, likely making it suitable for basic tasks and daily productivity but not intensive workflows.

The Apple MacBook Pro 14 (Late 2023) is only fair for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14, with an integrated Intel graphics unit, is less advanced compared to the Apple MacBook Pro 14's more powerful M3 GPU, which significantly contributes to the MacBook's better 3D capabilities; however, the maximum screen refresh rate of the Acer is lower, lessening its gaming potential, while the MacBook Pro offers a much higher refresh rate conducive to smoother visuals in gaming, although it's worth noting that many popular games aren't available for MacOS.

The Apple MacBook Pro 14 (Late 2023) is very good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is poor.
The Apple MacBook Pro 14 has a significantly more powerful CPU and GPU, both from the M3 series, which are better for demanding engineering and design tasks, and its higher-quality screen offers better color accuracy and brightness, enhancing visual work. In contrast, the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14, equipped with an Intel i3 processor and UHD Graphics Xe, provides enough performance for less intensive tasks but has a lower-quality screen, and while it's more portable due to its 2-in-1 design, it doesn't match the MacBook's raw power and superior screen quality.

The Apple MacBook Pro 14 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 for general use, AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 offers an adequate display for everyday tasks due to its satisfactory resolution and brightness, but it might not provide the rich colors and sharpness desired for detailed engineering work or the high refresh rates needed for smooth 3D gaming. The Apple MacBook Pro 14 boasts a high-resolution screen with excellent brightness and wide color gamuts, making it exceptional for general use and professional design and engineering tasks where color accuracy is critical. However, despite its impressive display for static content, the MacBook Pro's screen doesn't have the high refresh rate preferred for 3D applications, which benefits from smoother motion and quicker frame rendering.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | November 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
"In the Apple MacBook Pro 14 2023, the M2 Pro is slowed down. From the improved 5nm process, the new M2 Pro is a very solid upgrade. Graphics performance has increased by about 25% in tandem with a clear improvement in efficiency. The processor has also seen a performance leap of up to 20%, but this is accompanied by an increase in consumption of up to 25%. Fundamentally, Apple its maintaining its advantage over AMD and Intel, particularly in optimized applications where the results are very good in view of the comparatively low power consumption."
