The Acer Aspire 3 15 offers affordability and is suitable for general use like web browsing, office tasks, and streaming media; however, it might have lower performance and build quality compared to the premium Lenovo ThinkBook 13x, which, while more expensive, provides better performance, a sleeker design, higher durability, and greater portability due to its smaller size and lighter weight. The ThinkBook also typically has a longer battery life, making it a good fit for those who travel frequently or work long hours away from power outlets, but if budget is your main concern and your usage is light, the Acer Aspire might be sufficient. The Lenovo ThinkBook 13x is only fair for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 15 and the Lenovo ThinkBook 13x may manage entry-level gaming and basic 3D tasks due to their dedicated or integrated GPUs, but won't excel in high-end gaming or demanding 3D applications. The Aspire's larger screen might offer a slight edge for gaming visuals, while the ThinkBook, with potentially higher build quality and a more powerful CPU, could handle a wider range of tasks with smoother performance, though both will be limited by modest refresh rates and less-than-top-tier CPUs.

The Lenovo ThinkBook 13x is good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 15, with less powerful CPU, RAM, and GPU, may struggle with demanding engineering software and multitasking compared to the Lenovo ThinkBook 13x, which offers superior performance due to better components suitable for resource-intensive tasks. While both laptops have decent screens, the ThinkBook's higher screen quality enhances the visual experience during design work, and though it's more portable with a better keyboard, the Aspire 3 may have an advantage in quieter operating noise and speaker quality, making it more pleasant for extended use in quiet environments.

The Lenovo ThinkBook 13x has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 3's fair screen quality for general use is due to an adequate resolution and brightness, but it may not have the optimal panel type that provides the best viewing angles and color accuracy. Whereas the Lenovo ThinkBook 13x offers very good screen quality with a higher resolution and superior brightness, coupled with a panel that renders sharper images and more accurate colors, making it suitable for detailed work in engineering and design due to its coverage of color gamuts. However, for gaming and 3D applications, both laptops fall short because of their lower refresh rates which can lead to less smooth visuals in fast-paced scenarios, despite having decent resolutions and panel types.

Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
