The Acer Aspire 3 15 is a budget-friendly option suited for general use with lower performance in 3D, machine learning, and engineering tasks, offering longer battery life and quieter operation, which makes it a good choice for simple day-to-day activities and light work. On the other hand, the MSI Katana 15, although more expensive, provides significantly better performance for gaming, 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering software with a higher refresh rate display but compromises on battery life and is slightly heavier, making it less portable but more capable for intensive tasks. Choose the Acer for cost efficiency and general use or the MSI for more demanding applications and better gaming experience. Give Feedback

The MSI Katana 15 is good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is only fair.
The MSI Katana 15 offers better performance for general use than the Acer Aspire 3 15 due to its more powerful CPU and GPU, double the RAM, and a higher refresh rate screen, enhancing both computing power and visual fluidity. However, this comes at the cost of reduced portability, with the MSI being heavier and having a shorter battery life, making the Acer a better choice if mobility and longer unplugged usage are priorities.

The MSI Katana 15 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 3 and the MSI Katana, with their fair screen quality for general use, offer suitable resolutions and brightness levels for everyday tasks like web browsing and video streaming, but they may not be as vivid or sharp as higher-end displays. For engineering and design, these laptops' screens might lack the wide color gamuts necessary to accurately depict colors in professional software, making them less ideal for color-critical work. Gamers and 3D professionals will find the screens' poor quality for their needs due to the lower refresh rates, which can result in less fluid motion and reduced responsiveness in fast-paced visuals.

How the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the MSI Katana 15 compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"The MSI Katana 15 B12 combines a Gen12 CPU with an RTX 4050, which is actually not a bad idea for a budget gamer. The CPU is anything but bad and the GPU in the Katana 15 proves to be significantly more efficient than last year's models. However, our main point of criticism for budget gamers is the price: while you can get budget laptops with RTX 3060 from around US$800, you pay a whole US$1,499.99 here! The efficiency advantages of the RTX 4050 do not justify this price premium."
