The Acer Aspire 3 15 is less expensive and offers basic performance suitable for general use with moderate storage and memory. Its modest processor and graphics are sufficient for everyday tasks but not for heavy gaming or engineering software. On the other hand, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 provides significantly better performance with higher storage, memory, and a robust processor and graphics card, suitable for 3D rendering, machine learning, gaming, and engineering tasks. However, it comes at a higher price and may be less portable due to its higher weight. If affordability and casual use are priorities, choose the Acer, but if you need a high-performing laptop for demanding applications and can afford a higher price, the Lenovo would be a better option. The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, screens like those on the Acer Aspire 3 provide adequate resolution and brightness for daily tasks such as browsing and video streaming, while the Lenovo Legion Slim, with its higher quality panel, offers sharper images and better viewing angles. In engineering and design tasks, color accuracy is paramount and the Lenovo's adherence to wider color gamuts means more precise color representation, which is crucial for professional work. When considering 3D performance, the Acer falls short as it lacks a high refresh rate, which is essential for smooth renderings and gameplay, although the Lenovo also doesn't excel in this area, it still provides an improved overall experience due to its better resolution and panel quality.

How the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 15.6" compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is a slim Legion notebook that is just as excellent with Nvidia & Intel. However, the Legion Slim 7i slightly sullied by lacklustre battery life. You get a slim aluminium chassis, great input devices, decent port selection, fast high-quality WQXGA display and great performance. Supporting Thunderbolt 4 is one advantage of the Intel/Nvidia model tested in this review. Moreover, this variant has slightly higher CPU performance as well as better GPU performance in certain applications (e.g. CUDA-based apps). The Lenovo Legion S7i is thin, premium and performant – but less efficient than its AMD counterpart."
