The Acer Aspire 3 15 is less expensive and offers good portability with longer battery life, suitable for general use and silent operation, albeit with modest performance capabilities. In contrast, the Lenovo Legion 7 is pricier and boasts higher performance for 3D rendering, machine learning, gaming, and engineering tasks, along with a more vibrant screen and better build, but at the expense of heavier weight and reduced battery life. If you need a laptop for demanding tasks and can bear the higher cost and less portability, the Lenovo Legion 7 is a strong choice, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is more budget-friendly and sufficient for everyday tasks. The Lenovo Legion 7 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Acer Aspire 3's screen quality is adequate because it offers a resolution and brightness that are acceptable for everyday tasks like browsing and video streaming, but the panel type may not provide the best viewing angles or color reproduction. The Lenovo Legion 7, with its higher resolution and superior panel type, offers crisper images and better brightness, which enhances the overall experience for both everyday use and detailed engineering and design work, where color accuracy and coverage of wide color gamuts such as DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB are essential. However, for gaming and 3D applications, both laptops fall short due to their lower refresh rates, which don't provide the smooth visuals required for fast-paced games, despite their resolutions and panel types being moderately suitable for these tasks.

Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"The Lenovo Legion 7 is a fast 16-inch gamer with 165 Hz display. The new Lenovo Legion 7 is a very good gaming notebook that, despite its comparatively compact compact 16-inch case, does not have to do without the most powerful components. Thanks to good cooling, no compromises are made in terms of performance. Both the Core i9-12900HX and the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti perform at a very high level."
