The Lenovo Legion 5 15" is good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 3 15, with its lower-end CPU and graphics, less RAM, and lower resolution screen, offers a satisfactory experience for basic tasks but may struggle with more demanding applications, whereas its lighter weight and longer battery life benefit portability and on-the-go use. In contrast, the Lenovo Legion 5 15" boasts a higher-resolution, brighter display, a more powerful CPU and GPU, and double the RAM, enhancing performance for intensive tasks, yet this comes with the tradeoff of reduced battery life and increased weight, making it less convenient for frequent travel.

The Lenovo Legion 5 15" is good for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is poor.
The Lenovo Legion 5 15" delivers a better gaming and 3D experience with its Nvidia RTX 4060 which considerably outperforms the AMD Radeon 610M in the Acer Aspire 3 15, and also offers a higher screen refresh rate. Additionally, the Legion's screen has a higher resolution and density, contributing to more detailed and smoother visuals important for these activities.

The Lenovo Legion 5 15" is very good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is poor.
The Lenovo Legion 5 is preferred for engineering and design due to its superior processing power with a higher-end CPU and GPU, and double the RAM, which allows for more efficient multitasking and handling of complex software. The Acer Aspire 3 offers modest performance with its lower-tier CPU and GPU and less RAM, and while its lighter weight and longer battery life make it more portable, this comes at the cost of the reduced power that is essential for demanding engineering tasks.

The Lenovo Legion 5 15" has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 3's screen, while suitable for browsing and video streaming, lacks the clarity and brightness that professionals need for detailed work and graphic designers might find its color range limiting. The Lenovo Legion 5, with a higher quality display, offers better visibility in various lighting conditions along with a wider color spectrum for nuanced design tasks, but its slower refresh rate may not satisfy gamers or 3D designers who require smooth motion handling. Both laptops fall short for gaming and 3D modeling due to their lower refresh rates, failing to deliver the seamless visuals crucial for these fields.

How the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the Lenovo Legion 5 15" compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"The Lenovo Legion 5 15 is an affordable gaming laptop with a lot of power. The new AMD processor Ryzen 7 5800H offers plenty of performance and it is also very efficient. The combination with the fast 130W version of the GeForce RTX 3060 ensures high gaming performance. We also like the fast 165 Hz display with the 1080p resolution. The automatic graphics switching causes some problems with stutters, which are very annoying. If you do not need long battery runtimes, you should definitely deactivate the hybrid graphics mode in Lenovo's Vantage app. The Legion 5 15 is never silent."
