The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for general use.
The Acer Aspire 3 and Lenovo IdeaPad 3 both have screens with adequate resolution and brightness for everyday tasks like browsing and document editing, but their panel types may not offer the most vivid colors or wide viewing angles. Engineers and designers may find the color accuracy and range limited, as these models likely do not cover a broad spectrum of the DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB color spaces, which is crucial for precise color work. For gaming and 3D applications, both lack high refresh rates that provide smoother motion and better responsiveness, even though their resolutions and panel types are sufficient to handle the content visually.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" and Acer Aspire 3 15 are both only fair for general use.
The Acer Aspire 3 15 sports a competent CPU and sufficient RAM for everyday tasks, offers a standard-quality screen, and, despite its fair battery life, isn't the most portable due to its size. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" has a more powerful CPU, double the storage, a slightly superior screen in terms of sharpness and brightness which enhances visual experience, marginally better battery life, and is more portable, but it has a smaller screen size which might affect the comfort of viewing multiple windows or media content.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" to be only fair for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 15 is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 3 CPU and AMD Radeon GPU, which are reasonable for engineering and design tasks, but may lack in power for very intensive workloads; it also has a decent screen size and quality that's suitable for such tasks. Meanwhile, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 has a stronger AMD Ryzen 5 CPU with integrated Vega graphics, better screen brightness and color accuracy, and is more portable due to its lighter weight and smaller size, but it also sacrifices the dedicated numeric keypad which could be useful for some engineering applications.

How the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"The low-priced IdeaPad 3 14 delivers on core functionality. Lenovo's IdeaPad 3 14 meets all the basic requirements for an inexpensive office laptop. The matte IPS display is bright enough, the performance is high for the class, and the input devices are rock solid. In addition, the mostly quiet operation including the useful performance modes, cool surface temperatures, easy maintainability as well as expandable working and mass storage all contribute to the IdeaPad 3 14's value proposition."
