The Acer Aspire 3 is significantly less expensive and offers solid performance for general use with good battery life and silent operation, which makes it suitable for everyday tasks, light work, and media consumption. It's also slightly lighter than the HP Envy, which might be important if you plan to carry it around frequently. However, its limited storage space and less powerful processor make it less suitable for more demanding tasks like engineering software, intensive multitasking, or 3D rendering.
The HP Envy x360 is more expensive but enhances your experience with a touchscreen, more storage, and a more powerful processor that can handle more intensive tasks like photo editing and casual gaming. Additionally, the HP Envy has better build quality, speakers, and a backlit keyboard, which improves usability in dim lighting. It also has a higher capacity battery, but this results in a slightly heavier device. The HP Envy would be more suitable if you're looking for a laptop that can handle a broader range of activities, including some that are more resource-intensive. Give Feedback

The HP Envy x360 15" is only fair for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 15, with an AMD Ryzen 3 CPU, entry-level Radeon GPU, and a full HD IPS display provides a basic level of performance for engineering and design, but the HP Envy x360 with a more powerful AMD Ryzen 5 processor and its integrated Vega graphics, along with a touchscreen full HD IPS display, offers better performance and a more flexible user experience for similar tasks. However, both systems aim at moderate performance with the Acer being slightly more portable due to its lower weight and the HP providing better screen quality and flexibility as a convertible 2-in-1, making it suitable not only for work but also for presentations and casual use.

The HP Envy x360 15" has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 3 and HP Envy x360 may have screens that offer sufficient resolution and brightness for activities like web browsing and video streaming, which is adequate for most general users who prioritize clear images and legibility. For engineering and design tasks that require accuracy in color reproduction, both models provide displays with limited color gamut coverage, which could be a drawback for professionals who need precise color fidelity. However, when it comes to gaming and 3D applications where smooth motion is key, both laptops fall short due to their lower refresh rates, affecting gamers or 3D designers who need fluid visuals without screen tearing or stuttering.

How the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the HP Envy x360 15" compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"Despite its good looks, stellar webcam and comfortable keyboard, the Envy x360 15 is hard to recommend because of its dim, 16:9 display. If the display isn't an issue for you, just be sure to wait for a good sale price. Otherwise, a more modern two-in-one with a 16:10 display such as the Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 or Lenovo Yoga 7i 16 provides a larger workspace without adding much to the size and weight of the system."
