If you're looking for a more affordable option, the Acer Aspire 3 15 typically costs less than the HP 14" Laptop. The Acer has a solid build with a larger 15.6-inch screen which may be beneficial for productivity and media consumption, but it is heavier and may be less convenient to carry around. On the other hand, the HP 14" Laptop has a more powerful AMD Ryzen 5 processor, compared to the Acer's Ryzen 3, which offers better performance for demanding applications and multitasking. The HP also provides a more portable design due to its smaller 14-inch screen and lighter weight. If you require higher storage capacity, the HP comes with a larger built-in storage space. For those preferring longer battery life and a quieter, fanless operation, the Acer may be a more suitable choice. Ultimately, choose the Acer if you prioritize screen size and budget, or the HP for better performance and portability. Give Feedback

The Acer Aspire 3 15 has a better screen than the HP 14" Laptop for software development.
The Acer Aspire 3 and HP 14" Laptop offer screens that are adequate for everyday tasks due to their sufficient resolution and brightness, making them usable for web browsing, productivity applications, and video streaming. However, for engineering and design, these laptops lack the wider color gamuts necessary for precise color work, which may not meet the needs of professionals in those fields. When it comes to 3D and gaming, their lower refresh rates can result in less smooth visuals and could hinder the experience in fast-paced scenarios where higher refresh rates are crucial for optimal performance.

The HP 14" Laptop and Acer Aspire 3 15 are both only fair for general use.
The Acer Aspire 3 15 is fair for general use because of its balanced RAM and CPU combination suitable for everyday tasks, a reasonable quality screen, and a modest battery life, though it's slightly less portable due to its size and weight. Conversely, the HP 14" Laptop, while also fair for general use, offers a slightly more powerful CPU and more storage space, has a smaller, more portable form and better battery life, but mirrors the Acer in having decent RAM and screen quality, making both fit for day-to-day activities without demanding computing needs.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers HP 14" Laptop to be only fair for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 15's AMD Ryzen 3 CPU and Radeon 610M GPU with a 15.6-inch screen are suitable for engineering and design tasks; however, the HP 14" Laptop offers slightly better CPU performance with its AMD Ryzen 5 and integrated Vega 7 graphics on a smaller but more portable 14-inch screen. Both have adequate RAM for moderate design work and IPS displays for good screen quality, but neither excels in graphics-intensive tasks due to their entry-level GPUs, and while portability is somewhat better on the HP due to its smaller size and weight, neither laptop stands out for high-end engineering work due to these constraints.

How the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the HP 14" Laptop compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"This feels like an ideal laptop for someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on a laptop and isn’t too bothered by things like build quality or construction. It’s a laptop that will be used to pay bills, keep track of expenses, do some online shopping, and will be tucked away in a spare bedroom/home office. It’s an appliance designed to do a job without fuss. It’s not a premium experience—the materials do feel a little cheap, the display won’t exactly wow you, and the battery life is nothing to write home about, especially if you’ve used more expensive devices. But overall it’s not too shabby, especially for the price."
