Considering your needs will determine your choice between the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the Gigabyte G5. The Acer Aspire 3 is more budget-friendly and offers longer battery life, making it suitable for general use with quieter operation. In contrast, the Gigabyte G5, while more expensive, provides significant performance boosts for 3D rendering, machine learning, engineering tasks, and intensive gaming due to a more powerful processor and graphics card. However, with increased performance, the Gigabyte G5's battery life is shorter, and it may run louder and hotter. Both have similar screen sizes, resolutions, and types, but the Gigabyte excels with faster refresh rates, making it better for fast-paced visual content. If portability and cost are priorities, and your use is general, the Acer could be your choice, but if you require more power for demanding tasks and gaming is a consideration, the Gigabyte G5 is the better performer at a higher cost. The Acer Aspire 3 15 has a better screen than the Gigabyte G5 for software development, while the Gigabyte G5 has a better screen for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
When considering general use, both the Acer Aspire 3 and the Gigabyte G5 may have adequate resolution and acceptable brightness, but their panel types may not offer the best visual experience. For engineering and design work, the color accuracy and range may not meet professional standards as they may not cover the wider color gamuts like DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB that are crucial for this field. As for gaming and 3D applications, despite having reasonable resolution and panel type, the lower refresh rates of these screens can hinder a smooth visual experience that is highly sought after in fast-paced or visually intensive tasks.

How the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the Gigabyte G5 compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"The Gigabyte G5 KE is a midrange gaming laptop that checks most boxes. Gigabyte makes good use of the Core i5-12500H and RTX 3060 Laptop GPU combo, and we find no untoward issues with overall performance. The dual-fan quad-heatpipe cooling arrangement does well to ensure that the underlying hardware doesn't throttle under load. That being said, the display is below par when compared to 2023 standards, especially when competing devices."
