Choosing between the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the Gigabyte A7 involves weighing several factors. The Acer is a budget-friendly option that is lighter and offers longer battery life, making it more portable and suitable for everyday tasks. However, the Gigabyte A7, while more expensive, provides a larger screen, significantly better performance for 3D tasks, machine learning, and engineering software due to its robust processor and powerful graphics card. It also has more storage space and a higher quality build, but its battery life is shorter and it's heavier, compromising portability. If you prioritize performance and features for professional and gaming needs, the Gigabyte A7 is the better choice; for regular use with an emphasis on mobility and cost efficiency, the Acer Aspire 3 15 would be more suitable. The Gigabyte A7 is good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 15 has a less powerful CPU and GPU, less RAM, and lower screen quality compared to the Gigabyte A7, making the Acer less suitable for demanding engineering and design tasks which require robust processing and graphical capabilities as well as a high-quality display. While Acer is more portable and quieter in operation, the A7's superior hardware and better screen make it a better choice for such intensive tasks, despite being heavier and possibly louder when running demanding software.

The Gigabyte A7 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and software development.
For general use, the Acer Aspire 3 has a decent display that provides adequate resolution and brightness, but may not offer the vividness or wide viewing angles of more advanced panel types, making it suitable for basic tasks. The Gigabyte A7 provides better screen quality for engineering and design due to its wider color gamut coverage, offering more accurate color representation crucial for these fields. However, both laptops’ screens have lower refresh rates, which compromises the smoothness and responsiveness needed for optimal gaming and 3D application experiences.

How the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the Gigabyte A7 compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"In terms of looks, the Gigabyte A7 X1 is certainly not a trendy, slim, and ultra-mobile gaming laptop. But it does what it's supposed to do, namely bringing games smoothly onto the screen, very well. Both the processor and the GeForce RTX 3070 are able to unleash their performance without restrictions thanks to the well-ventilated case. The Gigabyte A7 X1 brings modern games smoothly onto the screen and offers excellent maintenance options."
