The Acer Aspire 3 15 is significantly less expensive and offers a budget-friendly option with decent performance for everyday tasks and silent operation. It has a longer battery life and is lighter, making it more portable. In contrast, the Gigabyte A5 is more expensive but comes with a stronger processor and graphics card, more storage and memory, better color coverage on the screen, and higher build quality, making it suitable for more intensive tasks such as gaming, 3D rendering, and engineering software. The Gigabyte A5 is good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 3 15 offers modest performance with less RAM and a lower-tier CPU than the Gigabyte A5, which has a higher RAM capacity and a more powerful CPU, allowing it to handle tasks more efficiently. While both laptops have similar screen sizes and types that are well-suited for everyday activities, the Acer's smaller storage and lower battery life may be less appealing for general use, whereas the Gigabyte offers substantial storage and longer battery use but is slightly heavier, impacting its portability.

The Gigabyte A5 is good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is poor.
The Gigabyte A5 is better suited for engineering and design due to its more powerful CPU and GPU, double the RAM, and its higher refresh rate screen which offers smoother visuals, whereas the Acer Aspire 3 15 may struggle with more demanding tasks with lesser RAM, a less robust CPU and GPU, and lower screen refresh rate. The Aspire 3, however, boasts better portability with a lighter build and longer battery life but has a lower quality keyboard and speakers in comparison.

The Gigabyte A5 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and software development.
For general use, the Acer Aspire 3 offers adequate resolution and brightness, but the lackluster panel type keeps it from standing out, while the Gigabyte A5's superior panel makes colors more vibrant and text sharper. With engineering and design tasks, the Gigabyte A5 distinguishes itself with a wider color range, essential for precision work, but both lack the optimal color accuracy top-tier design laptops offer. In gaming and 3D applications, neither laptop excels because of their low refresh rates, a critical factor for smooth motion; however, their resolutions and panel types are still serviceable for casual use.

How the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the Gigabyte A5 compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"Ignoring price, the Gigabyte A5 has a hard time against the similarly fast competition. Besides the loud noise in 3D mode (performance mode), the high temperature development of the components should be mentioned on the downside. Despite the relatively thick case, the laptop gets very warm and loud under load, which does not exactly speak for the cooling system. The plastic surfaces look rather cheap and also tend to rattle. In most other disciplines - be it the input devices, the screen, the connectivity or the battery runtime - the Gigabyte laptop does not stand out from the crowd, neither positively nor negatively. However, those who primarily pay attention to the price-performance ratio will get a pretty good offer with the Gigabyte A5."
