The Acer Aspire 3 15 may be more cost-effective and has a larger 15.6" screen, suitable for general use with decent battery life. It's heavier and less portable, making it a better fit for a stationary setup. The Framework Laptop 13, although more expensive, offers greater portability with its lighter weight and smaller 13.5" screen. It has a higher-resolution display and may perform better for intensive tasks or engineering thanks to a more powerful processor. It also features a modular design for easier upgrades and repairs. For demanding workloads or those on the go, the Framework Laptop may be the better choice. Give Feedback

The Framework Laptop 13 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Framework Laptop offers a brighter display, higher resolution, and possibly a better panel type than the Acer Aspire 3, making texts and images sharper and more vivid, which enhances everyday tasks such as browsing and watching videos. When considering engineering and design, the Framework Laptop likely covers a wider range of colors as indicated by the higher color gamuts, crucial for professionals who need accurate color representation for their work. However, for gaming and 3D, neither laptop is ideal; despite their good resolution and panel types, they both have lower refresh rates, reducing the smoothness and responsiveness critical for fast-paced games and 3D rendering.

How the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the Framework Laptop 13 (2023) compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"If you’re thinking of investing in your first Framework, now is the time. The kinks and rough edges have all been smoothed out and this is a very nice machine with a bright, upgradable future. The only reason I can think of to wait is the AMD model, which I’ll be sure to test as soon as I can get my hands on one."
