The Acer Aspire 3 15 is often significantly less expensive and is suited for general use with a lighter weight that enhances portability. On the other hand, the Dell Inspiron 16 5635, often more expensive, offers higher performance that benefits engineering tasks, 3D rendering, and better screen resolution but is heavier. Consider the Acer if you prioritize budget-friendliness and portability for everyday tasks. Choose the Dell if higher performance, better display quality, and a larger screen size are crucial for your work or entertainment needs, and you are okay with a less portable option. Give Feedback

The Dell Inspiron 16 5635 is only fair for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 15 is equipped with a basic AMD Radeon 610M GPU and a standard 60Hz refresh rate display, making it a fair choice for lighter gaming and 3D applications, while the Dell Inspiron 16 5635, though offering a sharper screen, shares the same refresh rate limitation and relies on integrated Vega 8 graphics, which also makes it suitable for only modest gaming demands. Both laptops offer fair performance in gaming and 3D due to their GPU limitations, despite the Dell's stronger CPU and better screen quality which can handle general tasks more effectively, yet for dedicated gaming or advanced 3D work, a dedicated stronger GPU and higher refresh rate display would be necessary.

The Dell Inspiron 16 5635 is good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 15, with less RAM and a weaker CPU and GPU, is sufficient for basic engineering and design tasks, while the more capable CPU and GPU, higher screen quality, and double the RAM make the Dell Inspiron 16 5635 better suited for demanding engineering and design applications. The Inspiron's larger, higher-resolution screen also benefits detailed work, although its slightly heavier weight might reduce portability compared to the lighter Acer Aspire 3.

The Dell Inspiron 16 5635 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for general use, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
When considering general use, both the Acer Aspire 3 15 and Dell Inspiron 16 5635 offer screens that provide adequate resolution and brightness, which are essential for daily tasks like browsing and watching videos, but they may not stand out in terms of crispness or vibrancy. For users focused on engineering and design, these models may fall short as they likely don't cover the wider color gamuts required for precise color work; this could lead to less accurate color representation in professional projects. Gamers and those into 3D applications may find these laptops less suitable due to their lower refresh rates, which can affect the smoothness and responsiveness in fast-paced visual scenarios, although the resolution and panel types are sufficient for moderate levels of detail and clarity.

Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"Compared to the previous year’s Inspiron, Dell upgraded the screen aspect ratio on this generation, but also transitioned to a more minimalistic centered keyboard flanked by up-firing speakers. The 16-inch screen is huge plus and I really appreciate the extra real estate without sacrificing the footprint much. This year’s model is a little larger than last, though, as the former model was already very small for a 15 incher."
