The Acer Aspire 3 15 is a budget-friendly option suitable for general use and light engineering tasks, with decent battery life and moderate performance. If you prioritize higher performance for tasks like 3D design, machine learning, or gaming and can invest more, the ASUS Vivobook 16X is better equipped for those demands yet sacrifices some portability due to its larger size and potentially shorter battery life. The ASUS Vivobook 16X is good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is only fair.
The ASUS Vivobook 16X offers better general use capabilities due to possessing a more powerful CPU, double the RAM, higher screen brightness and color accuracy, along with a larger and higher resolution screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15; however, the Acer is lighter which may be more appealing for those prioritizing portability, even though it doesn't perform as well as the ASUS in processing tasks and has a shorter battery life.

The ASUS Vivobook 16X is good for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 is poor.
The ASUS Vivobook 16X provides a better gaming and 3D experience due to its more powerful Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU and a higher screen refresh rate of 120Hz, while the Acer Aspire 3 15 has a less capable AMD Radeon 610M graphics card and a lower refresh rate of 60Hz. Additionally, the Vivobook's superior CPU contributes to its overall better performance for these tasks, even though the screen quality is only slightly better than that of the Aspire 3 15.

The ASUS Vivobook 16X has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
When considering general use, the Acer Aspire 3 has a fair screen overall because its resolution and brightness are adequate for day-to-day tasks, but it's the panel type that may not deliver the most vivid colors or wide viewing angles. The ASUS Vivobook 16X offers a good viewing experience with higher resolution and brightness, providing clearer and more vibrant visuals which are beneficial for both general use and detailed work in engineering and design, although its color gamut coverage might not match professional-grade monitors. However, both laptops have screens that aren't ideal for gaming and 3D applications, as they lack the high refresh rates necessary for smooth motion, alongside only moderate resolution and panel types that don't prioritize the fast response times gamers often seek.

How the Acer Aspire 3 15 and the ASUS Vivobook 16X compare to other laptops
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and it's easy to carry around. The display looks decently sharp and provides plenty of space for multitasking, but it doesn't get bright enough to combat glare. Its Intel Core i3-N305 CPU and integrated graphics can only handle simple tasks, like text processing, web browsing, and video playback, so it isn't ideal for students in more technical fields like 3D graphics. Unfortunately, the battery lasts only around six to seven hours of light use."
"I think the ASUS Vivobook 16X is fantastic. Great performance, decent battery life, good keyboard and trackpad, and a massive screen – just that the screen quality itself is kinda subpar. If you’re okay with the screen, then I think this is an okay laptop. However, I’d like to see a price drop."
