If you are looking for high-quality noise cancellation and the best sound quality, the Sony WH-1000XM5 is your better choice. However, if budget is a significant concern and you prefer a more compact, on-ear design, the Marshall Major IV may serve you well. The Sony headset offers advanced features such as adaptive sound control and a superior microphone, making it ideal for noisy environments and phone calls. But, the Marshall's lower price makes it attractive if you're looking for dependable everyday headphones without groundbreaking features. Keep in mind the on-ear design of the Marshall Major IV could be less comfortable during extended listening sessions compared to the over-ear design of the Sony WH-1000XM5, which also tends to provide better noise isolation. Sound Guys

Jasper Lastoria | September 2023
"The Marshall Major IV shares quite a bit in common with its predecessor, but a key upgrade appears to be softer ear cushions. They make upgrading worth it. As a set of basic wired or wireless headphones the Major IV ticks most boxes by remaining easy to use, and fairly comfortable (at least, as on-ear headphones go)."

Headphonesty

Kazi Mahbub Mutakabbir | February 2023
"The Sony WH-1000XM5 are the best Sony Bluetooth headphones so far and one of the most well-rounded Bluetooth headphones around. Look no further if you need class-leading ANC with a mostly inoffensive sound signature. Just be ready to pony up the price premium."
