If call quality is a priority for you, the Audio Technica ATH-TWX7 outperforms the Sony WF1000XM5 with its excellent mic quality. The ATH-TWX7 also offers a more balanced performance for diverse activities, with very good ratings in music, gaming, and TV and video, making them versatile for both work and leisure. Despite being more affordable, they maintain very good noise isolation and support the LDAC codec for high-quality audio streaming over Bluetooth. However, if wireless charging and longer battery life are must-haves, the Sony WF1000XM5 provides those features, along with an integrated virtual surround system, which could enhance your listening experience for supported content. Keep in mind, though, the WF1000XM5's performance for calls and meetings is not rated as high. Give Feedback

Engadget

Billy Steele | January 2024
"There’s plenty to like about the ATH-TWX7. A robust set of features brings a lot of convenience to your day. But a few of those tools could still use some fine-tuning and the lack of automatic pausing in 2024 is a head scratcher. Still, the audio is mostly good, and transparency mode is better than most. Add in the solid call quality and the in-app voice test and the ATH-TWX7 are a worthy consideration, especially at this price. Too bad it falls short of being a more complete package some of the competition offers for a slightly larger investment."

Sound Guys

Harley Maranan | July 2023
"The Sony WF-1000XM5 is among the best noise canceling earbuds currently on the market, and they aren’t cheap. These earbuds aren’t the best choice for budget-conscious listeners. But if you prioritize active noise cancelation, sound quality, and extensive software support, the WF-1000XM5 is worth its premium price tag."
