DO NOT GO TO THIS GAS STATION. I was robbed in broad daylight with plenty of eye witnesses. Gas station employee was not helpful and did not seem surprised. Thieves opened the drivers door and grabbed my backpack within 15 seconds of arriving, then RETURNED when I was inside reporting the incident to smash the window and grab an empty bag. Avoid this place completely.

Beware, I know it's tempting to get your receipt from the teller when the pump paper is out (I'm sure on purpose) but don't, that's when they'll steal your stuff. Avoid all gas stations around the airport.

A man in a rain coat broke into our car and stole our backpack right in front of us while we were filling the car with gas.

Like many others, I had my car burglarized at this station by some shameless thief. I locked the car and went inside for a few minutes and came back to find my backpack had been stolen from my rental car and the windows smashed. I would avoid the gas stations in this part of Oakland unfortunately.

On 9/20, I drove by and watched a guy get out of a red Hyundai and open fire with a handgun on another car. The owners don't care. The staff are unhelpful (won't share video). The Oakland police don't care either.

My husband and I just got robbed there this morning. We thought it my not be a good idea to fuel there, but the car had only 1/4 left. While my husband was at the pump, I was at the passanger side inside the car. I looked at the side mirror and saw a person crouching beside my car. He realized I saw him and quick opened the back door and grabbed my husband backpack. I grabbed it too, but the strap broke and the guy jumped inside a white Cherokee and left. The employee from the has station said they could check security images if we had the police over. We waited one hour, a white nissan frontier with blackout windows passed by many times, slowing down to look at people at the station they robbed another car, we hinkwd yo alert the driver and she called the police and they finally came as we got her the license plate of.the pick up. They came by one more.time bwfore.police arrived and dropped her nag back without her wallet. Police said they know about all the cases, but arenot allowed to chase after the suspects if they didn't hur or threatend anyone.

Everyone here has said this, but here I go. We were robbed at this gas station today. We went to pump gas for our rental car and someone went brazenly went into our trunk with us in the vehicle. He swiped a backpack containing valuable personal effects that cannot be replaced. It’s clear the station is very used to this and involved. They require customers to go into the station to get gas for no reason, requiring vehicles to be unattended. I am planning to hire an attorney for these atrocities that Shell has taken no action to remediate. I will be filing a lawsuit against Shell and the station owner. I encourage others to do the same.

DO NOT GET GAS HERE- I was robbed/ burglarized on 8/17/2023 when I got out to pump my gas in broad daylight with other cars also pumping gas. This Chevron gas station 451 Hegenbeerger and the 76 across the street at 449 Hegenberger have regular organized thieves. When returning my car to the rental agency at Oakland airport, they told me this has been an ongoing problem at these two stations. This could be solved by having security staff on site. But, the gas station management does nothing. DO NOT GO HERE.

We filled up our rental car here and got robbed. Not even 10 minutes later the robbers returned and threw our stuff out of the car, while we were still filling up. Driving away they asked us "Where are you guys from?" All our stuff was still in the bags, but it was only junk anyways. So I guess, thank you robbers.

nobody thinks this would happen to them until it does. been flying to OAK regularly for almost a decade now. last friday, as I was filling up my rental car, a group was looking at my rental car window and trying to open all doors. I was inside the gas station getting my receipt when it happened. the gas station clerk didnt look surprised nor even bothered calling the cops. it seems to normal for OAK. the company I’m working for has changed their expense policy since last week. For employees’ safety, anyone travelling to OAK will not be required to fill up the rental car before returning. be safe out there.

Public safety warning: my backpack was stolen from my trunk while there were others sitting in the car. It seems like these car break ins are a regular event at the gas station, there were 5 that happened while we were there and the gas station staff refused to give us video footage to report the incident.

Came around 8pm to get gas with four people in the rental car. Locked doors and kept an eye out around the car but as the back seat passenger got in to leave, a very nice grey Audi sedan backed up and opened our trunk. Very lucky we had no bags in the back. Do not stop here!!!! I’m glad we didn’t didn’t get a window smashed.

AVOID THIS GAS STATION! You will be robbed, as mentioned in the other reviews! While filling up today a BMW back up behind us. I just finished filling up and as I went to get back into my car a guy jumped out of the car behind me and stole all of our backpacks out of the trunk of our car. This happened in broad daylight. We lost thousands of dollars of equipment. Makes me wonder if the gas station is in on all of these robberies or something....🤔 I would never fill up here again.

HORRIBLE-NEVER STOP HERE!!!DANGER- TRAVELERS BEWARE! We were robbed here seconds after pumping gas on July 5,2023 at 9:30am. We were on your way to return the rental car up the street. Clerk and eyewitness did nothing to come to your aid! My husband was even hit by the car that left the scene. KEEP DRIVING. I think its a team of people in on GRAB and SNATCH. They will rush up on you quick, take your stuff and flea the seen in a nice sedan car. Wish I had read other reviews prior to coming here. Such a bad experience I have no love for Oakland.

After reading through the recent reviews and adding my own experience to this, this place should not deserve even one star. (I have to give it something in order to write the review 😡) I was almost assaulted and my window on passenger side was smashed on 6/29 around 7pm. The place was actually busy with patrons there. Did not know this place has a string of robberies on a regular reoccurring basis. And it appears the gas station owner is doing nothing to stop this or warn the customers, and it has not gotten on OPD’s radar. Despite the property damage, I was able to escape the robbery because my purse was not sitting on the passenger side and my engine was already running. I stepped on the pedal and sped off as quickly as I can. This is crazy. I called OPD after I got home and was told I have to go to Oakland in order to have the report filed. I’m not stepping foot there as I’m still traumatized from this craziness.

The owners and attendants were of absolutely no help, and it gave me the impression that at best they were indifferent about the frequent robberies or at worst complicit or accomplices to the robberies. I really hope the police get some help for this area, this is clearly a big issue.

DANGER: if you go here you will be robbed. It's targeted for the airport rental dropoffs. They drove up and break in right in front of you, even if you are standing at or in the car at gas pump. While I was there two cars were robbed back to back, the rental workers at dropoff say it's always happening at this gas station, and on the rental shuttle to airport 4 people on the bus has been robbed the same way.

No signs up to warn people. I assume employees/management are part of the crime ring as no action is taken to curb it or warn people.

My car was broken into while parked at this gas station in broad daylight with several other cars around for less than 2 minutes. Bystanders warned me immediately that my windows were smashed. They took my backpack that was in my trunk. I tried to talk to the cashier for footage but it seemed they could care less about the situation. Looking at reviews this appears to be a systemic issue that neither this shell management nor oakland PD care about. Stay away from this place at all costs. The thieves were bold enough to use my credit cards at this exact gas station later in the day.

Like other reviewers, I was was robbed here. I stopped to refill my rental car on my way back to Oakland Airport. It was late morning and the station was busy. Nevertheless, I locked the car for security when I got out to pump gas. I had just put my card in the pump when I heard glass shatter behind me. It was so loud I thought the dark SUV next to my car had hit me. But no, they smashed the driver's side window, and reached across to take my bag from the passenger seat and quickly drove away. The manager of the gas station was completely unhelpful and even tried to say it was my fault for being robbed. As others mentioned, I believe the staff here has to be a party to this ongoing crime spree. Shout out to the nice other customers that tried to help. I was left to drive a car with the driver's seat covered in broken glass back to my hotel, since I did not feel safe waiting any longer at that location. I had to cancel my flight, and had no money and no ID to fly home to Seattle. Not to mention the loss of my other important items, like prescription medication. I had to cancel all of my credit cards, which the thieves proceeded to try to use at this very gas station! Please don't even stop here. I hope Shell will take action, since the Oakland Police haven't.

Went home the next day got credit card fraud alert from credit card company. Called the station, the lady wouldn’t care at all. They could be compromised too as the machine. Be careful!

I was robbed while filling my rental car. The station said their video camera doesn't capture much and they were very unhelpful, very dismissive. Also, the pump would not print my receipt and would have had to leave my car to go in. Very suspicious. Use the nearby Chevron as they literally have an armed guard standing by the islands. Oakland is a very disturbing city. Lock your doors when pumping gas!

They popped our trunk and took 3 bags as my son got in car after getting gas in broad daylight. He jumped out and tried to grab the guy. The guy jumped in car and it's driver sped off. REPEAT LOCATION FOR SMASH AND GRABS! BEWARE THIS LOCATION! Dont come here at night. This has happened on multiple occasions. they have 2 employees inside talking. The door is locked they put up a ghetto sign that says closed for 20 minutes. I come here multiple times a week. Was just at the gas station trying to get gas. 2 different employees looked at me and. Walked away. EVERYONE go to the 76 or chevron down the street Service is better and the employees will at least acknowledge you.

my experience was horrible, I was mistreated and disrespected by the employee Hershel, a despicable woman who did not inform me that the car wash was not working, I asked to use the bathroom and again she was rude to me and said that I could not use it, I asked her canceling the car wash payment and once again she was arrogant with me and said that the machine was cleaning, I waited for the cleaning and the boy said that it was only up to her to put the car wash in operation and even then she did not !! which made me more outraged that she was in a hurry to smoke, but to be kind to a consumer did not have the same efficiency !!
