The Vizio V-Series is a budget-friendly LCD TV that offers decent overall picture quality and supports many HDR formats like HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HLG. It displays good contrast and is capable of fair upscaling of lower-resolution content, which makes it suitable for watching movies and series. However, its brightness is not optimal for very bright rooms, and it has poor local dimming, which can affect viewing experiences in dark rooms. For gamers, it's less ideal due to its poor response time and input lag; the V-Series is also not the best for fast-moving sports content. Its three HDMI ports are enough for basic connectivity but its sound quality is just fair, so for better audio, external speakers or a soundbar might be desired. It can be used as a monitor and supports a basic 60Hz refresh rate with good color support for general usage. Give Feedback

Ratings by Category

Cartoons & Animaton:
4.0
The Vizio V-Series LCD TV is well-suited for cartoons and animation because it displays colors accurately straight out of the box, which is essential for the varied and vibrant colors typically found in animated content. However, its color volume is not as impressive, indicating that while it can show a wide range of colors, it may not be able to display very bright or very dark colors within that range as effectively.
Overall Picture:
3.9
The Vizio V-Series (LCD) offers strong contrast and pleasing colors straight out of the box, enhancing overall picture quality; however, it lacks local dimming and has a poor HDR brightness, limiting its ability to produce deep blacks and bright highlights which are important for high-quality HDR content. Additionally, though the colors appear good initially, the TV struggles with color gamut and volume, meaning it may not accurately display a wide range of colors.
Movies & TV shows:
3.4
The Vizio V-Series has a fair performance for watching movies and cinematic TV primarily because it struggles with contrast and black uniformity, which are crucial for displaying deep blacks and maintaining richer picture quality in dark scenes. Additionally, even though it has somewhat important features like decent out-of-the-box colors and color volume, its limited local dimming capability and gray uniformity could make for less than ideal dark scene reproduction and could affect the viewing experience from wider angles.
News, Talk & Reality TV:
3.3
PerfectRec’s news, talk, & other TV score prioritizes upscaling, brightness, contrast, out of the box color accuracy, and screen uniformity. This is because almost all news and talk shows are created in Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) with lower resolutions, such as 720P and 1080P. The purpose of this prioritization is to ensure that lower resolution content looks good on a 4K display and to help you identify which TV will perform best when watching live TV via Cable, Satellite, or Antenna.
Sports:
3.1
The Vizio V-Series struggles with fast motion, seen in its low motion processing capability, which can lead to blur during fast-paced sports, and it has a poor response time, which might cause motion to be less smooth. The TV also has a fair reflections score, meaning it may not handle reflections well in bright rooms, potentially affecting visibility when watching sports during the day.

CNET

Geoffrey Morrison | June 2021
"Vizio's cheapest 4K HDR TV packs in a lot for a low price. The voice control via the remote works well, about as well as Roku's version on devices that have it. So if you know your way around a TV menu, or want to be able to dial in the picture even on an inexpensive TV, the Vizio is the better choice"
