The Lenovo Legion 5i Pro is a midrange-priced laptop with a large storage capacity and ample 32GB of RAM, suited for both demanding engineering tasks and gaming with its Intel i7 processor and Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU. Its screen is a 16-inch IPS panel with a high refresh rate, ideal for smooth visuals, and it has a resolution that strikes a balance between clarity and performance. It doesn't support touchscreen but has a comfortable keyboard with a numpad and is backlit. However, at 5.6 pounds, it leans towards the heavier side, which might affect portability, and its battery life is modest, which could limit mobility for extended use away from power sources. It supports a wide range of ports, including USB-C and HDMI, and has features like Ethernet and USB-C charging, but it's not the quietest under load. Overall, it's built for gaming and heavy workloads but not the best for on-the-go usage. Give Feedback

Engineering & Design:
4.7
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i is great for engineering and design due to its powerful Intel i7 processor and 32GB of RAM, which enable efficient multitasking and complex computations, and its Nvidia RTX GPU that supports demanding graphics tasks. The laptop's high-resolution IPS display offers wide color coverage and crisp visuals, enhancing the quality of on-screen design work.
Keyboard Quality:
4.6
The Keyboard Quality score is based on the PerfectRec experts’ assessment of tactile feedback, typing comfort, keyboard reliability and typing noise.
Gaming & AI:
4.5
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i excels in gaming and 3D due to its high-performance Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU which can handle resource-intensive graphics, and a screen with a 165Hz refresh rate that allows for exceptionally smooth visuals during fast-paced action. While the high-quality IPS display also contributes to a vivid and clear gaming experience, the screening qualities are somewhat secondary to the GPU and refresh rate for gaming performance.
General Use:
4.4
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i stands out for general use with its robust CPU and abundant RAM ensuring snappy performance for a range of applications, along with a high-quality screen that offers a high resolution and vivid colors. However, its portability is compromised by its weight and thickness, and while the battery life is suitable for short-term mobility, it may not last a full day of use without recharging.

PCMag

Brian Westover | August 2023
"The midpriced Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 follows some of our favorite gaming machines, including last year's model and the higher-end Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 tested earlier this year. But pedigree doesn't count for much in the computer world, and gaming laptops require a certain level of power and graphics performance to justify their prices. The Pro 5i Gen 8 just doesn't do that, offering middling CPU and GPU performance rather than the sort of muscle that would make it a great value."
