If budget is a primary concern, the HP 17" Laptop is less expensive and provides a large screen, suitable for general use and basic computing tasks, with long battery life. The larger screen makes it less portable. For more demanding tasks like 3D rendering, machine learning, or gaming, the MSI Pulse GL66, though more expensive, has powerful graphics capabilities and higher performance hardware. However, it has shorter battery life and a smaller screen, which might impact multitasking or productivity tasks that benefit from a larger display. Give Feedback

The MSI Pulse GL66 is good for gaming and AI, while the HP 17" Laptop is only fair.
The MSI Pulse GL66 outperforms the HP 17" Laptop in gaming and 3D tasks mainly because it comes with a powerful Nvidia RTX 3070 GPU and a higher screen refresh rate of 144 Hz, which is crucial for smooth gameplay, while the HP sports a less capable integrated Vega 8 GPU and is limited to a 60 Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the MSI's screen quality and CPU are also geared more towards gaming, complementing its superior graphics capabilities.

The MSI Pulse GL66 has a better screen than the HP 17" Laptop for gaming and AI.
When choosing a laptop for general use, both the HP and MSI laptops will suffice as they have adequate resolution and brightness, but their panel type might not be the most advanced, leading to less vibrant colors and narrower viewing angles. For engineering and design, while they offer suitable resolution, their color gamut coverage might not meet the high standards required for precise color work. In terms of gaming and 3D applications, the lower refresh rates on these laptops could result in less fluid motion and slower response times, which are not ideal for fast-paced visuals that these uses demand.

How the HP 17" Laptop and the MSI Pulse GL66 compare to other laptops
"As far as starter laptops go, the HP Laptop 17 is a sound investment. Sure, it might not be the lightest of options, but what you get for the price is a well-rounded machine that fits multiple niches. Whether it be office duties that require you to multi-task between multiple programs, or study tasks in which you’ll spend hours browsing online, this laptop does it all. Plus, when it's time to unwind, you can watch your favorite shows or movies on a super-wide display. What's best of all is that you can do all this for about half a day on a single charge."
"The MSI Pulse GL66 has a lot of potential for improvement. Although the RTX 3060 is only able to use 105 watts, we still liked the gaming performance, particularly since this also makes the Pulse comfortably efficient but not slow by any means. Neither the dark display with its lame response times, nor USB 2.0 or the lack of Thunderbolt will please real gamers. The use of a sticker factory seal, which is at least questionable, also won't inspire any enthusiasm. It is obvious that the laptop is really designed for price-conscious gamers."
