If you prioritize gaming or graphics-intensive tasks like 3D modeling, the Lenovo Legion 5 with its dedicated Nvidia graphics card will perform significantly better. However, it is somewhat more expensive and heavier, which may affect portability. In contrast, the HP 17" laptop, while more affordable and featuring a larger screen, uses integrated graphics that are less suited for demanding graphics tasks but may offer better battery life. The HP's bigger screen benefits tasks like multitasking with multiple windows but could make it less convenient to carry. Consider the Lenovo for performance-focused activities and the HP for general use or if you prefer a larger display with cost savings. Give Feedback

The Lenovo Legion 5 15" is very good for engineering and design, while the HP 17" Laptop is only fair.
The HP 17" Laptop is suitable for engineering and design due to its larger screen and solid CPU performance but lacks the dedicated high-performance GPU found in the Lenovo Legion 5 15" that excels in graphically intensive tasks, along with a higher screen resolution and refresh rate which are crucial for detailed design work. While both have similar memory and storage capabilities, the Lenovo's superior GPU and display make it stand out for engineering and design, despite being less portable and potentially louder with its advanced cooling system when operating intensively.

The Lenovo Legion 5 15" has a better screen than the HP 17" Laptop for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The HP's larger screen size is convenient for everyday tasks and multitasking, but its lower resolution and brightness may not deliver the crisp visuals or vivid colors needed by engineers or gamers. The Lenovo Legion 5, with a smaller size, offers a high-quality display, sharp resolution, and strong color accuracy, making it suitable for engineering applications but still falls short for gaming due to its lower refresh rate. Gamers typically prefer faster refresh rates for smoother visuals, which neither laptop provides, affecting play quality in fast-paced games.

How the HP 17" Laptop and the Lenovo Legion 5 15" compare to other laptops
"As far as starter laptops go, the HP Laptop 17 is a sound investment. Sure, it might not be the lightest of options, but what you get for the price is a well-rounded machine that fits multiple niches. Whether it be office duties that require you to multi-task between multiple programs, or study tasks in which you’ll spend hours browsing online, this laptop does it all. Plus, when it's time to unwind, you can watch your favorite shows or movies on a super-wide display. What's best of all is that you can do all this for about half a day on a single charge."
"The Lenovo Legion 5 15 is an affordable gaming laptop with a lot of power. The new AMD processor Ryzen 7 5800H offers plenty of performance and it is also very efficient. The combination with the fast 130W version of the GeForce RTX 3060 ensures high gaming performance. We also like the fast 165 Hz display with the 1080p resolution. The automatic graphics switching causes some problems with stutters, which are very annoying. If you do not need long battery runtimes, you should definitely deactivate the hybrid graphics mode in Lenovo's Vantage app. The Legion 5 15 is never silent."
