The HP 15" Laptop is a budget-friendly option with basic features adequate for general use such as web browsing, document editing, and video streaming. In contrast, the Lenovo Slim 7 16 is more expensive but offers superior performance suited for intensive tasks like 3D modeling, machine learning, and gaming due to its higher-end processor and graphics card. The Lenovo also boasts a longer battery life, a higher resolution and brighter screen with touch capability, and a more robust build quality. However, it is slightly heavier and less portable than the HP. If you primarily perform lightweight tasks and prioritize portability and cost, the HP might be more appealing, while the Lenovo is recommended for users requiring more powerful hardware and better screen quality for professional or creative work. The Lenovo Slim 7 16 is good for engineering and design, while the HP 15" Laptop is only fair.
The Lenovo Slim 7 16 outshines the HP 15" Laptop for engineering and design use due to its higher RAM capacity, more advanced AMD Ryzen CPU and Nvidia RTX GPU, coupled with a higher resolution and brighter screen, which contribute to better overall performance and visual clarity. However, the HP 15" with its lesser weight and smaller screen may be easier to carry around, but it compromises on performance with an Intel i3 CPU, integrated graphics, and a standard full HD display, and has less RAM, making it less suitable for demanding engineering applications.

The Lenovo Slim 7 16 has a better screen than the HP 15" Laptop for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The HP 15" laptop's screen may not have the high resolution or the superior panel type that you would appreciate for sharpness and viewing angles during general activities, and it likely offers limited color range which would make it less ideal for engineering and design work that requires accurate color representation. The Lenovo Slim 7 16 offers very good screen quality with a strong color gamut, making it suitable for detailed engineering and design tasks where color accuracy is crucial. However, both laptops lack high refresh rates, which means they wouldn't be optimal for smooth 3D rendering or gaming where fluid motion is key.

"Chances are high that the HP 15 is one of the first laptops to pop up when you search for an inexpensive notebook. Indeed, its price tag is very tempting for many, and of course, this is the reason for its popularity. However, the HP 15" suffers from poor performance due to low power consumption. On the bright side, one of the good things about it is the port selection. On the inside, this includes two SODIMM slots for memory, an M.2 PCIe x4 slot for storage, and a SATA drive bay. However, the TN panel, and mediocre input devices are not ideal."
"At $1,011, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Pro is a real bargain among full-sized laptops, with a handsome 16-inch, 16:10 aspect ratio touch screen, a speedy CPU, a comfortable keyboard, ample memory, and a roomy solid-state drive. It's not a blazing gaming rig or mobile workstation, but it doesn't pretend to be. Its biggest negative is that it may be hard to find—during our review, it sold out and was marked "Temporarily Unavailable" on Lenovo's site."
