The HP 15" Laptop is often less expensive and slightly more portable than the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17", which may be preferred for general use on a budget. However, the Lenovo has a larger screen, more storage, and a longer battery life, offering a better viewing experience and less frequent charging. The Lenovo IdeaPad's Ryzen processor and graphics also provide somewhat better performance for engineering tasks and creative work. Both laptops have keyboards with number pads and come with Windows 11 Home, but only the Lenovo includes a fingerprint reader for additional security. If portability and cost are your main concerns, opt for the HP 15". Choose the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" if you need a larger display, more storage, and can spend a bit more for improved performance and security features. Give Feedback

The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" has a better screen than the HP 15" Laptop for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" boasts a larger screen with better resolution and brightness, providing a more comfortable and vivid viewing experience than the HP 15" Laptop, which has a smaller display and less vibrant screen. When it comes to engineering and design, the Lenovo has a superior display that covers a wider range of colors, essential for precise color work, whereas the HP may not render colors as accurately or vibrantly. However, for gaming and 3D applications, both laptops fall short due to lower refresh rates, although the larger screen and better resolution of the Lenovo might offer a slightly more immersive experience despite this limitation.

The HP 15" Laptop, with its Intel i3 UHD Graphics, and the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17", featuring AMD Ryzen 5 Vega 7 graphics, are considered fair for gaming and 3D, mainly because their GPUs meet a basic threshold for these activities but don't excel. The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" and HP 15" Laptop are both only fair for engineering and design.
The HP 15" Laptop's fair performance for engineering and design use stems from an Intel i3 processor with integrated graphics, reasonable screen quality, and good portability, although it haslimitations in graphic-heavy tasks due to the modest GPU. The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" offers a larger screen with better resolution and color coverage, a stronger AMD Ryzen processor, and a more capable integrated Vega GPU, which suits design tasks better, but it is less portable and slightly bulkier, making it more cumbersome to carry around.

How the HP 15" Laptop and the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" compare to other laptops
"Chances are high that the HP 15 is one of the first laptops to pop up when you search for an inexpensive notebook. Indeed, its price tag is very tempting for many, and of course, this is the reason for its popularity. However, the HP 15" suffers from poor performance due to low power consumption. On the bright side, one of the good things about it is the port selection. On the inside, this includes two SODIMM slots for memory, an M.2 PCIe x4 slot for storage, and a SATA drive bay. However, the TN panel, and mediocre input devices are not ideal."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" defies expectations. Indeed, it is just a minor upgrade over last year. However, this doesn’t make the laptop any less terrific. It’s got a great performance, courtesy of the Ryzen 5x25U processors. In addition, you get a pretty good battery life. Perhaps, the 2-hour decrease in video playback, compared to last year is not great, but still, 10 hours of Web browsing and 7 hours of video playback is okay for 17-inch notebooks."
