The HP 14" laptop is generally less expensive, lighter, and offers better battery life, making it a good choice for portability and general use tasks. However, the MSI GF63 Thin has a larger screen, better gaming capabilities with its dedicated graphics card, and includes an Ethernet port, which might be more suitable if you require higher performance for gaming, 3D rendering, or machine learning tasks at the expense of weight and battery life. Neither laptop is considered highly portable when compared to ultrabooks, but between the two, the HP is easier to carry around. Give Feedback

The HP 14" Laptop has a better screen than the MSI GF63 Thin for general use, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, factors like resolution and panel type affect the clarity and sharpness of the screen, and if both laptops have just fair quality, it suggests they may have lower resolutions or non-IPS panels, resulting in less vibrant colors and narrower viewing angles. For engineering and design, accurate color representation is crucial, so fair screen quality implies these laptops do not cover a wide color gamut, affecting precision in color-sensitive tasks. Lastly, 3D applications benefit from smoother visuals provided by higher refresh rates, and with poor quality for this use, both laptops likely have standard refresh rates that do not support fast-paced graphics as well as specialized gaming laptops.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers MSI GF63 Thin to be only fair for gaming and AI, while the HP 14" Laptop is poor.
The HP 14" Laptop's fair gaming and 3D performance can be credited to its integrated AMD GPU, which is adequate for light gaming but not as capable as discrete GPUs for more intensive tasks; additionally, both laptops have a screen refresh rate of 60Hz which is standard but not ideal for fast-paced gaming where higher rates are beneficial. Meanwhile, the MSI GF63 Thin also delivers fair gaming and 3D experiences due to its Nvidia GTX 1650 Max-Q discrete GPU, which provides better graphical performance than integrated options but still falls short of higher-end gaming laptops, combined with the same standard screen refresh rate.

The HP 14" Laptop and MSI GF63 Thin are both only fair for engineering and design.
The HP 14" Laptop and the MSI GF63 Thin are both considered fair for engineering and design use because they offer adequate processing power and RAM for moderate tasks, but their GPUs may struggle with more demanding engineering applications and high-end design work. While the HP's Vega 7 integrated graphics are less powerful than the MSI's Nvidia GTX 1650 Max-Q dedicated GPU, the difference in screen quality is minimal; both have IPS displays with similar resolutions but the MSI has a slightly larger screen, better for detailed work but at the expense of reduced portability and increased weight compared to the HP 14".

How the HP 14" Laptop and the MSI GF63 Thin compare to other laptops
"This feels like an ideal laptop for someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on a laptop and isn’t too bothered by things like build quality or construction. It’s a laptop that will be used to pay bills, keep track of expenses, do some online shopping, and will be tucked away in a spare bedroom/home office. It’s an appliance designed to do a job without fuss. It’s not a premium experience—the materials do feel a little cheap, the display won’t exactly wow you, and the battery life is nothing to write home about, especially if you’ve used more expensive devices. But overall it’s not too shabby, especially for the price."
"If you leave aside the meagre port selection (no card reader, no DisplayPort, no Thunderbolt 3 or USB 3.1 Gen2), the fan control that could be improved (idle mode!) and the relatively dark and slow display, the MSI GF63 Thin 9SC does not have any major weaknesses. The 15-inch gamer is compact, has a low weight and offers a good price-to-performance ratio, which should please gamers that are looking for both a portable and an affordable gaming notebook. Input devices, battery life, case quality and performance are all appropriate for this purchase price."
