If portability and budget are your priorities, the HP 14" Laptop is lighter on the wallet and slightly more portable. For more demanding tasks like engineering and 3D work, the LG Ultra 16 offers better performance due to a more powerful processor and double the RAM, but comes with a higher price. The LG also stands out with a larger, higher capacity battery for extended use and a larger screen with a taller aspect ratio, which can be better for productivity. In terms of storage, the LG doubles what HP offers, allowing you to store more data and applications. Give Feedback

The HP 14" Laptop has a better screen than the LG Ultra 16 for engineering and design, while the LG Ultra 16 has a better screen for content creation, and software development.
For general use, the HP 14" Laptop and the LG Ultra 16 have screens that offer enough clarity, brightness, and color for everyday tasks like browsing the web and watching videos, but their resolution may not be as high as premium models. When used for engineering and design, both laptops provide reasonable color accuracy, which is critical for precise work, but they might not cover the professional color gamuts completely, which can be a setback for high-level color work. In terms of gaming and 3D applications, their lower refresh rates can lead to less fluid motion, and while their screen types and resolutions are acceptable, they do not provide the premium experience that dedicated gaming laptops offer.

The HP 14" Laptop and the LG Ultra 16 are both considered fair for gaming and 3D because they come equipped with integrated graphics—the HP with AMD Ryzen 5 5500U Vega 7 and the LG with AMD Ryzen 7 7730U Vega 8—instead of dedicated gaming GPUs, and standard screen refresh rates at 60Hz which are less suitable for high-frame-rate gaming that benefits from faster refresh rates.

How the HP 14" Laptop and the LG Ultra 16 compare to other laptops
"This feels like an ideal laptop for someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on a laptop and isn’t too bothered by things like build quality or construction. It’s a laptop that will be used to pay bills, keep track of expenses, do some online shopping, and will be tucked away in a spare bedroom/home office. It’s an appliance designed to do a job without fuss. It’s not a premium experience—the materials do feel a little cheap, the display won’t exactly wow you, and the battery life is nothing to write home about, especially if you’ve used more expensive devices. But overall it’s not too shabby, especially for the price."
"Unlike the gram, the Ultra PC isn't designed to be as lightweight as possible. The 16-inch laptop is a whole 400 g (0.88 lb) heavier than its 16-inch gram counterpart partly because its chassis is not made of magnesium. Other than that, the Ultra PC seems like a copy of the gram – but with longer battery life, lower noise levels, and a clean, delicate look."
