The HP 14" Laptop is a budget-friendly choice that is lighter and has respectable battery life, making it suitable for everyday tasks and portability. If you prioritize higher performance for engineering, more memory, and storage, as well as a better display with touch capability, then the HP Spectre x360 could serve you well despite being heavier and generally more expensive. The Spectre x360 also has a significantly longer battery life and more modern features like a higher resolution display, which may be preferred if your work or leisure requires a more vibrant and sharp screen. The HP Spectre x360 is very good for general use, while the HP 14" Laptop is only fair.
The HP Spectre x360 is assessed as being very good for general use largely because of its superior CPU, double the RAM, and higher-resolution touchscreen, which enhances multitasking, speed, and visual experience. However, despite its larger screen and better screen quality, the Spectre x360 is less portable due to its greater weight and size compared to the HP 14" Laptop, which is rated as fair for general use but offers better portability and satisfactory performance for less demanding tasks.

The HP Spectre x360 is only fair for gaming and AI, while the HP 14" Laptop is poor.
The HP Spectre x360 is rated higher for gaming and 3D because it has a more powerful Intel i7 CPU and a better-quality screen than the HP 14" Laptop, which is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU and a lower resolution screen. Both laptops have the same screen refresh rate but the Spectre x360 also offers a dedicated graphics solution better suited for demanding tasks, compared to the integrated graphics found in the HP 14" Laptop.

The HP Spectre x360 is very good for engineering and design, while the HP 14" Laptop is only fair.
The HP 14" Laptop, with an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU, integrated Vega 7 graphics, and a standard full HD display, offers acceptable performance for engineering and design, balancing cost and functionality. In comparison, the HP Spectre x360 boasts a more powerful Intel i7 CPU, Iris Xe graphics, and a higher resolution display, enhancing its suitability for demanding engineering applications but at a premium cost and with slightly lower portability due to increased weight.

The HP Spectre x360 has a better screen than the HP 14" Laptop for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, both the HP 14" Laptop and the HP Spectre x360 offer screens with good resolution and brightness, but the Spectre x360's higher-quality panel provides better viewing angles and color reproduction, essential for activities like browsing and video streaming. Engineering and design work benefit from the Spectre x360's superior color gamut coverage, ensuring more accurate color representation for detailed projects, which isn't as strong on the HP 14" Laptop. However, gamers and those into 3D applications would find both screens lacking due to their lower refresh rates, although the resolution and panel type might still offer a decent experience for less demanding visuals.

"This feels like an ideal laptop for someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on a laptop and isn’t too bothered by things like build quality or construction. It’s a laptop that will be used to pay bills, keep track of expenses, do some online shopping, and will be tucked away in a spare bedroom/home office. It’s an appliance designed to do a job without fuss. It’s not a premium experience—the materials do feel a little cheap, the display won’t exactly wow you, and the battery life is nothing to write home about, especially if you’ve used more expensive devices. But overall it’s not too shabby, especially for the price."
"As we said, Lenovo's Yoga 9i is a tough competitor to the Spectre with an equally admirable OLED display. We're sad that neither of them has an HDMI port nor a niche or slot to hold the stylus, though the HP wins points for its bundled mini docking station and magnetically attached pen. Your choice will come down to screen shape—and in our eyes, just as seeing an OLED screen spoils you for an IPS panel, enjoying a tall 3:2 display spoils you for a more conventional view. The HP Spectre x360 13.5 is our new favorite 2-in-1."
